Technology to the rescue.
Sorry, but I just could not resist linking these thread-subjects...

"Sex machines: How robotic prostitutes could turn a crime-ridden industry into a respectable 'guilt free' business"
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Obviously... America needs it's own 'android forces'.

what ever happened to
"what goes on in Vegas,
stays in Vegas"

somebody wants to change something. Using public opinion to make that change. If there was any enlightenment that should happen, maybe "dont believe anything you hear" should be it.

I stopped reading at this "Only about a tenth of field agents and uniformed officers are women, a shortage some attribute to travel demands that can be especially taxing on women balancing families and careers"

I could already tell where that article was going. What a joke.As if men don't do that either. The reason there isn't more women in the SS is either A)They can't do the job or B) They choose not to.

If they thought they could there'd be more women doing it.It's that simple.

I got to agree with you. Where's all the news coverage on the shortage of men in jobs traditionally held by women? Does anyone care at the grocery store that most of the check-out personnel are women and not men? In this country, certain people and the news media have nothing better to do than stir the pot. If more women wanted to do the job than they would. Now, if there were report after report of unfair hiring practices in these agencies then its another story. And yes, these jobs can be labeled good ole' boys club. The same can be said of the Mason's lodge, the Elks down the street from me, the city fire and police departments. What should we do? Start rioting? The news media wouldn't know a real story if it came and bit them on the arse! People aren't happy unless they're complaining about something. Just tells me they aren't busy enough. Get a life!

I don't get this line of logic-Men get horny so throw in some female agents and they'll act right? Please, women get horny too. They will just start screwing each other.

So, having women around will cause them to clean up their act? So so many problems with that statement.
1) it assumes all males don't work professionally
2) it assumes any woman in the service will be morally superior
3) it assumes that secret service agents are open about their extra duties

What's to keep naggy nancy from being ostracized and kept in the dark? Males distrusting females in any organization causes a communication rift, and that can't be any good.

Just a stupid grab at equal opportunity.

Being a person who traveled a lot for business, I can tell you people tend to go to after work activities together. Many times because they only have one car. So, yes, a few extra women would probably minimize this type of behavior.

At the very start of my career, I worked in for a government investigative "type" agency (though I wasn't considered law enforcement).

I was straight out told I could never work in one unit because it was all male and they like to go to strip clubs after work. This came from a female minority manager who went along with this type behavior.

This is sexist. As though women are incapable of screwing around while at work? Monica, I'm looking at you.

For some reason I believed that there were already women Secret Service members for the sakes of First Ladies and children. Stereotypical but it's public relations friendly.

The uproar I had about the scandal was that prostitution is generally illegal in the USA, and the SS members were not carrying their country's value system with them into other countries. Another impression I had was that the Secret Service men were married, so going to prostitutes was out of line. Also, those prostitutes, especially the one making a scene about her money, was doing a publicity stunt.

But go ahead, go find a 250 pound, six foot tall, bouncer-looking woman who knows close combat, and some other warfare, a photographic memory, knows multiple languages, has the same blood type as the President for an emergency, and isn't going to withdraw from a violent event, as women instinctually do under stress. Get six of them, and watch them keep their mouth shut and on task, without getting treated like subhumans, because they are women, by the international leaders at an event.
