Ladies and Gentlemen:

Please stop starting your threads with "MODS: If this is the wrong forum, please move the thread"

It's not like the administrative personnel of this site does need your permission to move your thread, in fact it is one of their explicit tasks putting threads into the correct categories.

That's like a criminal saying "COPS: If I do something illegal, please arrest me"

It's their job to arrest criminals, no solicitation needed.

Just thought I would point that out, since it's really becoming a standard opener for threads. I think I've done it as well one time, but after several meditations I now know that I was wrong and have severely punished myself for it .. well .. more or less.

Okay now back to sleep.

It's become the norm for me to skip the first couple of sentences in a thread because it seems about 3/4ths of them start with disclaimers and notes to mods

You could at least put it as the last sentence of your thread.

Rant Fail.

The "Mods, Please move this thread" is another way of saying "I'm sorry i'm not sure if this belongs here, so, i am letting you know that i didn't do this on purpose, so please don't incur any penalty on me"

I have no problem with it. Keep at it guys. i see it as courtesy.

Reply fail. The categories are for the most part self explanatory, exceptions admitted.

Someone who has repeatedly difficulties figuring out in which category his thread belongs, should not start threads at all because nothing fruitful will come from it anyways.

I actually just made a similar rant a few days ago. It really bothers me too.

Can the following be ommitted from every post?

I still see almost every thread beginning with instructions to the mods, so I guess it didn't work. But I didn't get flamed nearly as much as I thought I would in that thread.

Yep. And its real easy to shoot a message to a mod saying "I'm gonna start a thread about xxx but I'm not sure where to put it."

I don't ask the mods to move my post if it's in the wrong section, I just kind of rely on their great moderation to do with my thread what needs to be done. With great power comes great responsibility.

That's nearly as good as when someone says:

Too funny

Second line

It's obviously solicitation for a 1-line warning. Nothing says I put no effort into my crappy post than the admission that you shoved in a pointless second line to beef it up.

So the rant is really about someone who is REPEATEDLY doing it?

oh OK, i must have missed that on the OP.

It's just people being polite, not just to the Mods but to everyone who reads it. One man's prediction, is another man's grey area. One man's rant may be another man's joke.
The sites massive, it's only natural that people might stumble on where to put stuff.
