This has got to be the biggest load of crap to hit the internet.

If you invent the Internet, you should probably get some sort of recognition, right?

Former Veep Al Gore is now getting a bit of credit for his infamous 1999 claim that “I took the initiative in creating the Internet”: He’ll be one of the first inductees into the Internet Hall of Fame.

The group’s description of Gore states: “Al Gore, the 45th Vice President of the United States, was a key proponent of sponsoring legislation that funded the expansion of and greater public access to the Internet. Instrumental in helping to create the ‘Information Superhighway,’ Gore was one of the first government officials to recognize that the Internet’s impact could reach beyond academia to fuel educational and economic growth as well.”

Below are the people who were certified as being the creators of the internet. Not Al Gore!

Other inductees: Paul Baran, Vint Cerf, Danny Cohen, Steve Crocker, Donald Davies, Elizabeth Feinler, Charles Herzfeld, Robert Kahn, Peter Kirstein, Leonard Kleinrock, John Klensin, Jon Postel, Louis Pouzin, Lawrence Roberts, Mitchell Baker, Tim Berners-Lee, Robert Cailliau, Van Jacobson, Lawrence Landweber, Paul Mockapetris, Craig Newmark, Raymond Tomlinson, Linus Torvalds, Philip Zimmermann, Randy Bush, Kilnam Chon,Nancy Hafkin, Geoff Huston, Brewster Kahle, Daniel Karrenberg, Toru Takahashi, and Tan Tin Wee.

The only thing Al Gore invented was "global warming" which changed to "climate change" so he could cash in on taxing the air VIa Carbon taxes.

Al Gore did not invent the internet chalk this up to liberal arrogance.

I think they are saying he helped paved the way for the expansion of the internet in the U.S, not that he invented it... Scientists at cern were it's original inventors.

its the same thing as people giving credit to Edison for inventing the light bulb when he employed 30 men who worked endlessly experimenting.. no one remembers their names... he just had the funding.. not even sure if it was his either..

They are not saying he had anything to do with inventing the internet. He helped pave the way that lead to the government funding the expansion the internet. Next time you read a article like this take a stab at comprehending it also.

Snopes has a very useful write up about Gore's actual claim, the context, and how the words 'i invented the internet' were falsely attributed to him by political opponents much in the same way people falsely claim Palin said "I can see Russia from my front Porch".
