Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird's parliamentary secretary, Bob Dechert, will travel to Windsor, Ont., and Detroit on Friday to address the issue of the mysterious Windsor hum.

"The Windsor hum is having a negative effect on the day-to-day lives of Windsor residents,” Baird said in a media release. “We are prepared to collaborate with stakeholders and other levels of government to identify the source of the problem so that potential mitigation measures can be designed and implemented.”

So the Canadian Federal government will now investigate the noise in Windsor ON, though I think this does need to be looked into, I am not so sure that this is not some ploy to get more of his friends to the feed trough, I wonder how expensive this "commission" will be for the tax payers of Canada.

Wonder if Harper will do the same for the "sky sounds" and coastal explosion sounds being heard.

This stinks of politics, not an interest in what is causing the problem, especially after he gutted the environmental study and review process in this country.

Guess it is time to sit back and wait to see what comes of this "investigation".

So when the government denies and does nothing it's just hiding the truth they know, but when they actually acknowledge a mistery and offer to send scientists to figure it out they are just playing politics.

Is this your position?

As you said, "let's wait and see". With the results of their inquiry we'll be in a better position to judge.

Not against the idea in your post, just the tone. Btw I know I'm on ATS, but let's wait for the evidence before we make up our minds ok!

I am not confident the Govt. will send scientists, that is the issue, it will likely be a few well paid bureaucrats with company cards and nice expense accounts, possibly good friends of Harper in need of some extra spending money. I am all for trying to figure out what is going on, and I would feel more confident if they were getting the NRC or a similar agency involved, but there was no real indication of that in the article.

Canadian government to explore source of mysterious ‘Windsor hum’
National Post | Jan 21, 2013 3:19 PM ET

The Canadian government announced it was launching a study into the source of the mysterious “Windsor hum,” a loud vibration that has caused complaints from citizens in the Ontario border city for nearly two years.

Seems like they are really going all in on this mystery. I never really heard about this "hum" I've heard of other "hum" here in the USA. I always thought they were maybe underground faults or shifting of stuff way down below. Who knows? I guess that's why they will try and find out.

Maybe there are too many people practicing yoga up there. Lots of people hum during meditation.
