Now this is a fascinating aspect of abduction experiences. Common belief among researchers says that an abduction experience is impossible to stop. This appears to not be the case. The first case that started this was lead by a mufon investigator, who to his astonishment discovered that a man had thwarted an alleged abduction by calling the name of Jesus. The investigator had never heard of this before. Incredibly when this investigator talked to his colleagues, he learned they had records of similar event occurring to others! They just did not want their credibility destroyed by people when they learned of this, so kept quite. Anyways, here is the site the man started that documents cases of Alien Abductions being thwarted. This is relatively new to me as well and I had not heard of it until about two weeks ago.

As an opinion, abductions being thwarted by proclamation of a name associated with a transient (currently popular) mythology, supports data indicating such events to be psychologically driven.

This isn't to say that all or every abduction event is psychological. As a matter of opinion though, I feel a certain high number of abduction cases are indeed psychological as evidenced by indicators across the societal demographic concerning public mental health.

Again, this does not rule out the possibility of real physical abductions, but serves to illustrate the complex nature of the phenomenon regarding methodologies of approach and examination of the subject.

Long-time researcher, Ann Druffel, has been promoting similar solutions since the 1980s at least.

I've reserved judgement on it all as there appears to be something intriguing but it seems almost impossible to differentiate it from sleep paralysis and night terrors. At least, all the suggestions about *resistance* are equally applicable to SP and night terrors.

Whatever the truth, here's what Ann writes...

Appeal to spiritual personages. It works whether the witnesses are fully awake or if they are already paralyzed and in an altered state. The majority of FATE readers believe in some theological doctrine—-Christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc.—so the technique is presented here as a pragmatic resistance method rather than as a religious teaching. Witnesses don’t have to be fearless or have strong confidence to use this technique successfully.

What they do need is strong faith in a spiritual realm in which spiritual, protecting personages reside. A variety of spiritual personages have been appealed to, including Christ, Mohammed, guardian angels and spiritual guides.
Ann Druffel's web-page - Resisting alien abduction (halfway down the page)

There's a great interview between Ann and Tim Binnall. It's in the last part (iirc) where they cover some of the abduction narratives BOA Audio - Ann Druffel interview - Part 3

She runs an interesting web-site if anyone wants to read more....Ann Druffel home page

I find it interesting that they are Christians who are fine with the idea that aliens from space tried to abduct them. Usually you would hear something along the lines of "a demon tried to harm me", or something to that effect.

The experience was shown to be able to be stopped or terminated by calling on the name and authority of JESUS CHRIST.

To be honest, if I woke up to an alien standing in my bedroom I'd probably blurt out the same response.

2. You unknowingly open a door to the realm of this experience. Some people unknowingly opened a door for the experience, by being involved in New Age or Occult activities. When you engage in the unknown things outside of GOD the Creator and His WORD you make yourself vulnerable to these entities. We have found this reason to be the most often found root cause.

They don't seem to have any hard evidence to back up this claim.

They link themselves to another site HERE which states the following:

FACT: A 1991 Roper poll estimated that 4 million people in the US may have had an "alien abduction" experience (2% of the population). This does not even take into account the number of abductees worldwide, which based on the Roper poll, could be estimated to be 129 million people. This is a number of pandemic proportions.
Christian research in this field has shown that these are spiritually dangerous false beliefs, which can open a spiritual door to the occult, resulting in having dark paranormal experiences. These experiences destroy people's lives and relationships with family and friends, and changes their worldview. It is very important for Christians to learn about this topic and get more involved in this field of ministry. The need is very great, as the belief that alien life is visiting humanity is steadily growing in popularity.

From what I can gather, they believe that aliens are visiting us from another planet, and the E.Ts seem to have an avid interest in occult behavior.

FACT: Modern documented reports of alien's activities and abilities parallel the abilities of (fallen) angels as seen in the Bible.

CONCLUSION: Deceptive spiritual entities are posing as modern day "aliens", bringing tormenting experiences into the lives of individuals, and offering a false gospel message, in opposition to the true message of Jesus Christ.

There you go. Not aliens at all. The demons again.

...or, there is something to the argument that aliens are in fact demonic apparitions.

if not that, Jesus, being God's only Son, is Lord of lords, and King of kings, and all of God's Creations are under His authority, since all in the universe was created by God, including advanced aliens.

but, humans beings no nothing of the universe to make a claim God doesn't exist.

Thanks for posting. I have been speculating about this for years. As a younger teenager I was convinced I was the victim of repeated abductions. (I am still shaky on some points and doubt is never fully extinguished). But I do know from firsthand experience that sleep paralysis can be misconstrued as an abduction experience. However, I have found the sleep paralysis experience can be stopped by calling on the name of God, gods, angels, or whatever your secular flavor. Just getting angry and assertive is enough to end the experience.

This leads me to believe that either most abductions are sleep paralysis episodes (the obvious choice). OR, that, like I am still speculating about with each new personal experience of the phenomena, that the experience is spiritual in nature and "whatever" or "whoever" these abductors may be have a spiritually-oriented agenda.

The article says that the godless are more susceptible to these attacks. Pishtosh! While a young teenager trying to figure out the sleep paralysis phenomena (before I had access to the internet, folks), I used to see conventional, archetypical grays during the hallucinations. Over the years I have developed religion/spirituality/whatever. I find that the hallucinations take on different shapes and personae now. So maybe that part is true? Hallucinations tend to reflect one's own firm-held beliefs and fears.

For the record: Thanks for posting! I do not believe all abductions can be explained by sleep paralysis (I don't care what any pundit, sleep tech, or neurologist says)! And sleep paralysis seems to have some spiritual-oriented significance. These postulates are based only on my own observational data supplemented from rogue articles like the one the OP posted. I shall continue to speculate but thanks for adding this into the mix!

You're welcome! I thought it may be interesting to some, yet failed so see a thread on it. It is a largely ignored aspect.

It is a most fascinating subject for me! What is amazing is how my sleep paralysis episodes have completely changed in hand with my research on the subject. I have gone from hallucinating grays before ever hearing the term 'sleep paralysis' to seeing more occultist and shamanic-like imagery after hearing the explanation. This also leads me to believe that this is largely a psychological reflection as another poster suggested.

But, we're still skating thin ice when trying to explain these phenomena and distinguish them from physical close encounter abductions of wakeful subjects experiencing missing time while driving their automobiles. BIG difference from being asleep cozy in the bed, huh?

Edit: By the way..I do not think sleep paralysis easily explains many abduction cases. Just in case my posts gave off that attitude. Rather, the abductions described in the article sounded more like sleep paralysis episodes to me based on the "call God to rescue you" bit.

my thoughts, an abductee can call any name they want, its not the name that stops the abduction, its that the abductee has made a choice to go ahead with it or stop it.

the visitors are not stupid, well they can be at times, but you have a choice, you could call down the pagan gods or even you pets name, its stops because your telling them you want it to stop.

Considering that the only real study of this phenomenon has been on the psychological level, including physical psychology as it pertains to how the brain physically works and responds to certain stimuli as indicated in the studies showing researchers could indeed provoke an alien abduction experience hallucination dream state, there is the possibility that your opinion has a little bit of validity, but, that's up to conjecture and debate.

On the same note, since very little is known regarding this phenomenon other than what's been indicated in studies where abduction experiences have been induced by researchers, any claim, speculation, or conjecture could have valid merit.
Disney characters come to life for all we know could be causing this.

As stated before, I don't feel that any one explanation can describe the entirety of this phenomenon. In some cases there could be legitimate aliens physically abducting people where in others it's just a psychological issue, while in others it could very well be some sort of religious experience based off symbolism of whatever mythology the participant ascribes to.

It is possible to stop it. I developed a way.

It was in learning how to canalize emotion with intent; To create a sort of lazer.
It took a while to change my way of experiencing and thinking of emotion, then ot learning how to master them.
It took realizing that emotion is energy... it is neutral. It isn't, in it's essence, positive or negative- the individual separates it into those catagories (or experiences) and in doing so, drastically cuts down the level of energy and force in it. Duality is a way of weakening ones power, (and allows for a different experience of time and space...)

But as I became more adept at this, I found this energy can be used much like a laser, and can literally blow other beings away from you if you so decide it shall be. It can allow you to escape whatever means is used to cause the paralyzation too.

I know that sounds insane. I guess I decided that even if it was "all in my head", it was still one of the most astounding and important things I ever learned and that changed my life (really my whole existance), so it doesn't matter if the process which stimulated me to develop it was "real" or not!

Now I would guess that one could achieve this focalization of energy through the use of an image or symbol, of the Self- as in the essential, whole, balanced One. Focusing through that concept, if one has not reached that part of themselves already, might be effective- whether they consider that Jesus, or whatever avatar they have.

That is the connection.

ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!

I have really researched this topic as it has totally fascinated me for years!!

There are a few threads on this issue of sleep paralysis being related to extraterrestrial visitation. Check out some of the YouTube vids about people and their experiences with sleep paralysis. All have very similar themes.

1. temporary paralysis (my thought has been anestetics being used by et's....sounds crazy, but that's what I think)

2. hallucinations (I feel that people catch glimpses of these visitors and assume that must be hallucinating)

3. strange buzzing noises, even whispering (this could be the equipment being used by the et's, and the whispering has always creeped me out)

The question is, what are they doing with us????

Ah you may find that answer. I believe trying to engineer bodies for themselves to posses. Since spirits may or may not have a physical body. If they don't.... then they will need one now wont they? All abduction victims have sperm or eggs taken from them. Make the connections.

Thanks for posting this and the links to the web sites. I am going to be busy reading these for a while. I agree with a lot what has been said. Reading the testimonies gives me the chills like this is part of the truth, but I don't think this is the whole truth. I think there is more going on than meets the eye. The government is part of this and maybe some real ETs. Hopefully some day we know the whole truth.
