On the subject of designing airliners to stop terrorists from gaining access to the cockpit, no one would have ever anticipated that terrorists would
use airliners as weapons.
Before 9/11, if an engineer had even brought up the notion of designing an airliner with these specifications, they would have been ridiculed and
probably lost his job as a credible engineer. Now it's not a laughing matter.
It's a shame that a tragedy has to happen for people to wake up and realize that maybe something could have been done. Hindsight is no good when
catastrophic events take place. We can only take foresight at it's face value and apply them for prevention of tragedies if any should take place.
The seat belts in your automobile. You may never be in an auto accident yet they're still there. Are they worthless? Everything must be taken into
consideration in these days when nothing seems to be far-fetched.
9/10/2001: Do you think that someone could hi-jack an ailiner and fly it into a building, killing everyone on board and unaware people in the
building? No way. That could never happen in a million years and only someone paranoid and delusional would even think that.
9/11/2001: Why didn't someone try to stop this from happening?
