so the BIG question, why is DHS arming TSA and/or Military with of all bullet types, ones that were banned by the Geneva convention.

this reminds me of the parallel current situation with America STILL USING hundreds of tons of Uranium on Iraq, afghanistan and likely Libya, Iran next, and getting away with by going around semantics/wording of international bans.

so yeah, the issue is NOT quantity but why choose the type of bullet that expands into the human tissue ripping it to shreds. shredder bullets for TSA/Military, how smart, go USA!

Are you implying that there are one million armed agents under the auspices of DHS (TSA & Immigration)...("450 rounds/agent"); can you provide actual numbers so we can do the math?

How ironic that the order is for "hollow points"....and for those who insist that the size of the order is mostly for target practice (which makes sense on the surface) consider that one doesnt use hollow points for target practice.

The crazy thing is, a guy that works for a police department just explained that many departments do use hollow points to practice. Yet, you completely ignored the post. You continue to spread the fear mongering of RT.

On a note unrelated to your post.
Has anybody actually seen a TSA agent with a gun? When I flew to Nashville last month none of them had a gun. RT kept harping on TSA to further their spin of the topic. By making it sound like these bullets are going to TSA agents it ratchets up the fear and drives home the emotional response they want.

The DHS also includes the Secret Service, The Coast Guard, The Department of Federal Protective Services, ICE, U.S Customs Service, The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and other agencies that carry guns. There are a lot of DHS departments that have a legitimate need for ammo. The article completely skips them, except a five second blurb about border issues.

Winchester had a similar large contract with the FBI a couple of years ago. Back then people responded the same way. There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. People were prophesying about martial law and the end of civilization. Nothing happened then either. Many government purchase contracts for expendable items are worded with a maximum and a minimum. The maximum is routinely set insanely high to insure against a shortage. This means they will not run out and have to go through the tedious work of getting a purchase contract set up while they are out of a product.
