RSS Feeds

I am writing a small perl script which fetches the RSS feeds for the boards of interest to me, and parses them for display on my Desktop via a program called Conky.

My question is, how frequently would be permissable to re-fetch the feeds, before its seen as "spam"? The last thing I want to do is get considered as a spammer or dos'er.
