Nuke 'Em!

I don't know much on this topic so this post will mostly be questions. Hopefully ATS members can give me some interesting opinions.

When is it okay to nuke a country?

Is there anything you have to do before you drop the bomb?

Are there any rules to the nuking?

Basically, the last question sums it up pretty well.

if another country were to blow up another they might as well blow up the world. if a whole country was wiped out there are going to be ALOT of people in other countries that are going to be outraged that their innocent family and/or friends were killed. is it morally ok to nuke a country? suppose it depends on your view of mass murder.

When is it okay to nuke a country?

When said country attacks you first, and they are a nuclear power also...OR if they are a nuclear power and they make it clear their imminent intent to attack.

Is there anything you have to do before you drop the bomb?

Inform the populace if possible. Pray to your God/Gods for forgiveness. Try any and all means necessary short of nukes first.

Are there any rules to the nuking?

Get them before they get you...

1. When diplomacy and conventional methods of warfare are not working.

2. Calculate the radius of the affected area and take cover!

3. Rules? If diplomacy or conventional methods of warfare don't work, what rules are left but all out destruction?

You make it sound like ethics would be important. I doubt morality is even considered. Think "expediency, expense etc." Timing is the thing. Must time it for maximal benefit.....mmmm....if I was setting up a Presidential dictatorship (surely a ridiculous and implausible scenario) and I wanted to institute conscription (how ridiculous!....but it would help militarise the minds of a generation..) ........ to achieve these goals.....I would need to kill an election and put the country on a stretched war footing......timing....timing....well, after the election is pointless, not too far beforehand or the election might go ahead.........which country would have minimal economic impact if it was glassed and appears to be a direct threat.........God help the world. Its gone mad.
