Vaccine to stop heart attacks could be here in 5 years

A vaccine delivered by nasal spray or injection stimulates the body's immune system to produce antibodies.
That could prevent fat building up in the arteries.

Tests are being conducted in Sweden.

Apparently this new drug will actually reduce plaque build-up !

Not clear whether it's a one time treatment, or regimental.

A vaccine delivered in an injection or nasal spray to prevent heart attacks could be available within five years.

Scientists have discovered that the drug stimulates the body's immune system to produce antibodies which prevent heart disease by stopping fat building up in the arteries.

It is the first time that the underlying cause of heart disease has been targeted. Current treatments focus on using drugs to reduce cholesterol levels and blood pressure.

The vaccine can cut the build up of fat in arteries by up to 70 per cent, according to tests by researchers at Lund University in Sweden. The fatty deposits cause arteries to narrow, meaning the body has to work harder to pump blood, and can lead to a heart attack.

Heart Attack 'vaccine' ?

Even if proven to be real, it would be an amazing breakthrough but I just see it as an excuse for people to use to not work out and be lazy.

Perhaps,

but if plaque is already built up, will exercise reduce that ?

Wouldn't that be great?
We can be LESS worried about how we treat our bodies and take the blue pill to correct the life style we chose?

Actually, For people with high blood pressure and heart disease that is hereditary, or they stopped smoking or eating high fat diets this could be a great product.

I would NOT want to be the guinea pig in those clinical trials. As they dial for dollars and narrow in on side effects, people will die as they make adjustments to the final recipe.

Lose a few to save many as they say.
