Just curious.....if a member has been banned, would a "last visit" still be able to be registered on their profile if they visited after the ban was implemented?

If i've not explained that very well, here's another way of putting it. A member was banned a year of so ago, and is still registered as banned. Yet on thier profile it says that they last visited ATS this month, how is that possible? Do you have to be logged in under your username to register a visit?

Thanks,

CX.

Its my understanding that if you are banned, you cannot log on.

I think there are 2 kinds of bans from memory. Post bans (meaning you can log in and still star and flag posts and the full ban where you cannot log in at all. Post bans can be temporary in contrast to the regular ban. Hope it helps.

From what I understand (although I may be wrong) is that they can still log on but every page is something like a 404 error or blanked out or what not (I'm not sure how a banned account looks). Or maybe they get the 'You have been banned' page (if that thing is still around with the old man photo).

Anyways, they can log on and it will register in their profile. But they cannot view threads, check PM's, view their profile, etc.

(At least that is the way it used to be).

What if a banned member starts a new profile but is called out repeatedly for it, and then is allowed to continue posting under the new profile while the "rat" gets villified for being said rat?

Of course, I'm asking for a friend.

There are two types of Bans - user name ban and IP bans.

As far as I know there aren't IP bans on ATS.
IP bans are not a real solution, many people connect from a dynamic IP address.

Perhaps not in today's age, though one can have post banning. Can read, but can't type or page error 404.
