highly unlikely...being a gamer myself, ive never wanted to fight in a war after playing any shooter based on war. if anything, it gave me a better idea of the horrors of war.

call of duty: world at war showed me ww2 in a way that hadnt been done since i saw saving private ryan.

battlefield 3 has shown me how incredibly f**ked modern warfare is.

anyone who cant distinguish these games from reality shouldnt be playing video games in the first place. video games arent training simulators. thats a poor argument and from the minds of scared parents and politicians looking for power.

ive never wanted to pummel someone to death after playing mortal kombat. ive never wanted to go on a high speed chase, running over people and flipping cars after playing grand theft auto. and ive never wanted to dawn power armor and fight aliens after playing halo or mass effect.

oh also, video games have taught me how to form strategies and over come difficult odds. both of those are relevant to real life. if anything, video games help people. its just the 12 year old kids who play them religiously are putting a bad label on the rest of us.

the average gamer is 18+. we know the difference. blame the parents of the 12 years old who do dumb sh!t regularly. not us. not the industry. the parents are ALWAYS at fault. its just a shame that most american parents cant accept this fact. they control what their kids play and watch, not the other way around.

What a waste of resources.

This is the kind of funding our congress unilaterally agrees to? There are much more efficient ways to get intel on people and their habits.

I think people are missing the point of why they are doing they don't want game scores, they want to build a program that will link them all together.

One big super forensic tool kit to Analise "terrorists" encrypted data. Whats a RPG going to prove nothing about your ability to become a solder to be come a solder you need to be able to tolerate pressure.
Sorry but most of the gamers I have met only a few of them would handle this pressure the rest I reckon would curl up into a ball and cry.

what if .... the military uses gamers in real-time doing a mission .... and yet the gamer has no clue... and believes he's just playing a new game out?

Or .... what if they give in real-time a scenario to the gamer to complete and use coding to apply the gamer's tactics for a drone? While the gamer didn't realize what he consented to once turning on the video game.

I think the possibilities are endless once we've advanced far enough technologically.

dude... have you had the whole city of Solitude's guards surrounding you swinging steel swords while you're just a little archery-based wood elf.... level 15? that's some pressure!!!! about two swipes whilst dawning only weak light armor is instant death!!!

Consider this....

Super-computer genius A decides that he can generate a map of a real-world location, accurate enough to allow his team of crack terrorists to train virtually for an assault... say... at a mall, a hotel, a resort, a public park.... or some such thing.... then he (or she) sets up a network to 'train' the faithful....

Let's just take a shortcut to "who was using a flight simulator and in what location"?

Am I the only one who find the title misleading? All I read was that they want to know how to get in to the physical hard drive of game consoles. Unless I'm missing something, all this tells me is that if they confiscate an XBox, then they will know how to read the files to find whatever they're looking for. Kinda like the same they would do if they confiscated your computer looking for those child porn pictures they're sure you have or had at one point.

I don't see anything that would lead me to them wanting to do anything that isn't legal.

Found this if it is of any use, I think it is disgusting and the USA has no right to my data, the USG can burn in hell and get blown to smithereens for all I care, I've had enough.

Feds Want Way to Hack Xboxes and Wiis for Evidence

When the time comes to sell my xbox I am going to sanitize the drive first, stop these arseholes getting their hands on my Al-Qaeda half time Fifa banter

they're totally going to look at people's CoD and other FPS games scores. that way, they can pick out the best people to call to ACTUALLY fight.
because, you know, playing Call of Duty is totally liek war, IRL!!11!

Ha ha! That is going to backfire seriously if that's the case!

Take Kim Dotcom, founder of Megaupload who was ranked #1 on CoD MW3:

Anyone else thinks couch potatoes would make good soldiers?

so they think that reading someones messaging logs may help them find terrorists but surely it would be quicker/easier etc just to have game servers send all instant messages to a special spook file and then let them spend hours working out 'pwnd ju noobz' etc is a code for we're gonna blow up washington etc?

How bout we don't give them any more ideas?
