Another new creature to add to the list of inhabitants of our planet.

www.latimes.com...

A doctoral student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, discovers the tiny Wernerius inyoensis during a nighttime search of the park. Don't worry, Angelenos: The elusive species may live underground and is likely to be found in dry, sandy habitats.

Wernerius inyoensis is tiny — just over half an inch long — and may live underground.

Matthew Graham, a doctoral student at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, discovered it during a nighttime search of the park, using a special ultraviolet light that made the animal glow in the dark. Scorpions have chemicals in their exoskeletons that fluoresce under UV light.

At just over a half an inch long....that's one tiny scorpion. Considering it's size and the location it was found, it's easy to see how it has remained undiscovered until now.

I like the "Parietal eye" like thing it has on its forehead, always fascinated me how this appears often on reptiles and insects. Makes me wonder who is more evolved afterall

What a cute little guy! Always nice to see new creatures here on Earth. It really makes you wonder how much is out there we haven't found yet.

I love scorpions, but I think that has alot to do with me being a scorpio
I always wanted to have emperor scorpions but it freaks most people out so I have never had them.
