Removing Specific Threads from displaying within a specific forum?

As the title suggests and like on the Recent Posts page where one can opt to "remove" specific forums from view by clicking the little (-) symbol. Is it possible as well as feasible to add that feature within the specific forums themselves to allow a member the option to remove a specific topic from view within that forum and additionally add a "show removed topics" link to reverse the option if one so desired?

I am posting this inquiry solely based on what I feel is merely just a selfish desire as I enjoy certain forums, but certain topics within a forum I just would rather not see. This would be especially beneficial during times when certain forums become inundated with topics that may be based on current events. This imo can inadvertently cause other topics within a specific forum to perhaps be overlooked.

Just a selfish notion imo, but perhaps if I feel this way, others may as well. Thank you for your consideration.
