Not wanting to be too picky but the question related to the whole of Africa. Europe owes Africa nothing.

i didnt say Europe owes Africa anything. I merely said the past actions of some Euros at the time has played a part in what shaped the current state of Africa and i was largely getting at there isnt one simple sole answer as to why the country is the way it is.

I really don't know because I am not from that community and I do not know the entire story, but if I had to speculate. I'd say that there have been many injustices done to the black community in that town and that they have had many innocent black men accused of raping women when it was consensual, but against societal "norms"; in this case it was a little girl and she was Hispanic, so I really have no clue what the outrage is about???

To be honest with you, I didn't know who Quannel X was until I read this story. More speculation here: He probably wants publicity in highly controversial circumstances to spread his agenda and get clout with the community there and be seen.

Do you feel that Blacks in America feel justified in what ever they do because of the history of injustices they've suffered? I am assuming you are a black man based on your previous statements. I am genuinely interested in your responses.

You are correct in your assumption. I am a black man. I'm not an appointed or elected ambassador of the black race in its entirety, and can't speak for the all the people who happen to share similar melanin count as my own in this country, but I can speak for myself.

If anything, I used it as a motivator. Instead of sitting around pulling out a "race card", it fired me up to be better, and work harder to beat the stereotypes and crush the odds... You know when it was drilled into my head, when I was a teenager, that a young black male has a 45% or greater chance of being incarcerated or dead by the age of 21 is pretty sobering, and for some they take it as a self fulfilling prophecy and have no hope, and/or simply don't care.

I think those that are not taking advantage of what my forefathers bled, slaved (literally), fought, and died for is a travesty... They did all those things so that I could have a chance to do what I am doing today and I am grateful for their sacrifices and paving the way.

So to answer your question, the only justification in a history of injustices is to rally as a people and support, instead of destroy, and bring each other down and not let past triumphs over those injustices go in vain...

Why do blacks cry for justice so loudly but then constantly throw their support behind criminals?

I wouldn't say that the majority of blacks support criminals. I will say that there is a large distrust of the due process of law when it comes to blacks in this country, so in essence what may seem like a support of criminals is the support of a fair trial i.e. "justice." There has been so many instances where black people have had unfair trials and odds stacked against them. Falsely imprisoned off of hear se, and tainted and circumstantial evidence, or on the flip side totally ignored while watching a perpetrator go scott free. Call it playing the victim all you want, but had DNA test & evidence been admissible in the court of law around 200 or so years ago. A lot of falsely accused black people would have been found not guilty.

In actuality, I don't think it has much to do with race as it does with whoever has the most access to wealth and resources stands the best chance of having a good defense and a fair trial regardless of race, but then that's another matter.

Do you think it is possible that if blacks stopped committing crimes they'd stop getting harrassed?

I believe it would help some and would be one less prejudice to fight against and deal with. It bogs & perturbs my mind when it comes to the crime & incarceration rate that is so rampant in the black community, and I don't have an answer for it. I have my theories, but that's best saved for another post...

Hats off to you for responding in such a fashion. How do you feel the African American community would respond to a video being distributed of an 11 year old black girl having sex with 18 men of either white or hispanic origin? Regardless of the fact that it may have been "consensual" doesn't it seem that the point of statutory laws is to protect the young from predatory practices of older poeple? I would feel such pity for any 11 year old girl who felt that by having sex with a large group of men she would somehow be pleasing them and making friends. It makes me sad to think of it.

I cannot even imagine how boring Americlan society would be without Black people. My office would be like a morgue if not for them keeping things lively, and being such good friends. Friendships I am honored to return.

This is the way it is mostly, but then you have plenty of folks come along and want only to highlight the thugs. It is their nature to highlight and be drawn to only negative things.

I would argue that there were no actual adults in the situation, no actual adult would ever want anything to do with this kind of thing. At least we can say that whites and blacks are equally foolish when it comes to what they allow themselves to be videotaped doing. I am continually amazed at the things that people are videoing themselves doing and saying and then allowing it to hit the net. Those white girls in florida that said they hate all their black classmates, well except one apparently, those black teenagers that beat the crap out of that gay kid just recently. Why in the hell is it not clear that releasing videos of yourself doing criminal things or saying criminally dumb things is gonna get you in trouble?

Anyway, back to the topic. I will be interested to see what happens if justice gets served in the Trayvon Martin case and it is not the way that African Americans are expecting, what if Zimmerman is set free? If it turns out that he actually was walking away and was then attacked as the police are claiming. Will the Black community accept this or will we see some civil unrest?

If Zimmerman walks free, I have a strong feeling that there will be civil unrest somewhere. There is already civil unrest with the Occupy movements and this would exacerbate even that situation.

In all actuality, Zimmerman is free because they haven't charged him with anything. I think that's what the majority of the uproar is about; that he wasn't charged with manslaughter or worse.

Yeah I remember driving down a street once to pick my brother up at work, it was 2 am and it was 18th and polk street, west side of Chicago, well while driving down this street there was about 30 black guys standing in the middle of the of it and as I approached they all just stood there, I slowed down to give them time to move out of the way, but they didn't move, and me being a young white girl I was afraid to stop my car to ask them kindly to let me get past them, so as I got closer they started yelling and swearing then as I got up to them they started banging on my car with their hands screaming and yelling, I started to cry then hit the gas, luckily I didn't hit any anyone but Man if I knew that all they wanted to do was joke around and be funny I would of stopped.
so I guess I would get the same reaction if I drove down a scary dirt road in a hick town, or if i drove down a road in a gang ridden street in a mexican town, Or if I drove past a group of people kick fighting only to find out I interrupted the yakuza in china town, yeah a thug in each race I guess

. I'm an old White fellow that grew up in the 50's and I remember how things used to be. That being said, I have tried to do whatever was reasonable to think of Blacks and other Races as equals. I say "reasonable" because,
I'm not going to bend over backwards for you. If you want my respect then, you treat me with respect. Don't expect me to work hard to give you something you won't work for, I ain't your Momma. I'm not going to let you take advantage of me, just like you don't want me to take advantage of you. If you want to compete with me for something then, it will be fair, you don't get to have special treatment because you're Black. If you try to take something from me, try to harm me or my family, or try to oppress me....You're going to have a very serious problem with me. IF, you are a God fearing person, then you can understand what I' saying because YOU feel the same way.
This Black and White crap has to stop or it will escalate into something NONE of us want. However, IF you allow other Black people to INCITE you to do do very bad things, it will do so much harm to Race Relations,it will set Black People back 50 years. Black People need to look to their local Pastors instead of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton....THINK!!!

On a different note. My Wife and I were at the gun range, the other day, and I met a young Black couple and struck a conversation. Seems that, they were a Young Profession couple and the young man had been shooting for about a year and had recently received his Concealed Carry License. The man had just purchased his young Wife, of several months, a pistol and was teaching her how to shoot, The young woman expressed that she wanted to get her Concealed Handgun License and appeared to be a pretty good shooter. I found out later, that she had told my wife that her and her Husband wanted to be armed because they were concerned about crime in their neighborhood increasing, because of the economy downturn. They weren't worried about being victimized by Asian, Hispanic, or White People. this Intelligent young people are worried about Black people murdering them......Go figure.

We will continue to have racial divides and issues so long as we keep perpetuating the fallacies of it.

What kills me on this is how everyone acknowledges there is a race issue, yet ignore the fact that the issue is present because we wont let it go.

Judging a person based on skin color makes as much sense as judging an individual based on hair or eye color. At the very basic level I am not white, I am an American. My next door neighbor is not Hispanic, he is an American. Judging a person based on Nationality is another problem. Its ok to be proud of your hertigae / family lineage. If more peple took an interest in that topic they would realize we are all linked more than we realize.

We are all humans... The diversity on this planet is a gift, and we have managed to turn it into a divide and then a weapon.

Black people dont break the law.
White people dont break the law.
Hispanics dont break the law.
Chinese dont break the law...

Criminals break the law...

The sooner we can accept that and learn from it the closer we will get to turning the tables on those who like to use those issues to further a divide for personal gain.

I won't doubt the verity of your story, but it seems a trend that some people use the anecdote of an associate or "friend" who is black to somehow prove their own agenda as gospel...like, just because these particular black folks supposedly said something that resonates with your personal feelings, it stands as truth for all black people. I can only speak for myself here, as a black person. I live in a nice neighborhood, but like anyone else, I pay attention and I notice things. I am as equally afraid of the white meth heads robbing me as I am of the Mexican or Black criminal opportunist. So basically, around here, criminals come in a crayola box. I'd say that's a fact most anywhere. The one time I was robbed (back in the Army, in the barracks of all places) I was robbed by a white chick. Imagine that. A Jag soldier, to be exact...

Not racist but a realist.

Just last weekend in my hometown a black man stabbed a white girl to death in the parking lot of a shopping center, why not national news? Black men pistol whipped and stole purses from 3 ELDERLY white women in the parking lots of several stores. Black man shot and killed an 82 year old white woman in front of the courthouse with a F#cking semi-automatic rifle.....national news? Where is Spike Lee, Lebron James, Rosie O' Donell or Obama's outrage over these crimes? Thats just 3 weeks in my area and that's not all of them. SO am I racist because I'm pissed that these things are a mere side note and Trayvon Martin is blown out of proportion with out the whole story even being told? Sure I am.

Do blacks commit more crime as a whole? Not saying every black person is a criminal but the majority of crime is committed by blacks. Even if you find some statistic that says its 50/50 between white and black crime that number would be misleading because blacks only make up about 15% of the overall population of the U.S. SO what % of blacks commit crime would be the more telling number.

As far as Africa is concerned, this is where the black race originates from right? Why has Africa not progressed over thousands of years. Supposedly they are held back here in America by the white man.....whats the excuse in Uganda or Rwanda or Chad or Sierra Leone etc etc?? If it's because white men held them down in their own motherland then why did the blacks allow that? Would whites allow Asians to take over and control Europe or would Asians allow whites to take over and control Asia? African leaders in the past sold their own people into slavery. Whites didn't go over there and kidnap every black slave. When blacks are left to there own devices as a whole whether it be in a community, neighborhood or country there is lack of progression and stagnation coupled with violence and oppression against one another on a massive scale.
