Well at least your post gave it more thought...
However, the country is vastly different than it was 2o years ago.
The civil rights movement isn't happy with the status quo. They are exploiting this and it will backfire.

...are these two instances really that different when something becomes a social issue where race is involved?
And ‘if’ this does become a major social issue where race is indeed involved. What will happen next, and who will be involved?
Lots of differences already mentioned earlier by the fine folks here, yet you are not getting it for some reason.

What is sad I knew this was going to happen just from me reflecting off that incident in 1992. Yes, a lot of other innocent people were affected. I feel bad for Reginald because his life is not the same anymore, his traumatic brain injuries still affect him to this day.
I really thought Americans had gotten passed this

They are comparable when it comes down to the race issue. Simple as that.
The Sanford Police Department said officers were prohibited from arresting Zimmerman the night of the shooting because physical evidence and testimony supported his claim that he acted in self-defense in accordance with Florida law.
Its all about "stop, look, listen, and use your brain". If more people did that, we wouldn't be worried about riots.
