Nuclear talks between Iran, Western powers to begin next month

www.haaretz.com

Discussions between Iran and the U.S., Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany over the Islamic Republic's nuclear program will begin on April 13, senior U.S. and EU officials informed Israel on Tuesday. The talks are likely to take place in Geneva.

Officials in Jerusalem estimate that Israel will allow at least three months for discussions, until the oil embargo on Iran comes into full effect in the beginning of July.

i guess we can stop beating the war drums for the time being, Israeli has finally allowed talks to continue without threatening invasion or any other type of strike against Iran. It seems that Iran is still trying to stall, and by agreeing to talks in Geneva in 31 days time, they have gained 4 weeks more research time should they still be developing nuclear weapons or even developing nuclear power.

That is one explanation. The other is that the US wants Iran to come off alert status and relax a little so they don't see the all important first blow coming.

In the meantime, where are all these tanks going? Surely to a war zone?!

Well, maybe the Islamic Republic has finally decided to pull away from this game of brinkmanship especially now that sanctions will bite.

Couple this with the fact that in recent elections the Conservatives have severely eroded Ahmadinejad’s power in the Iranian Parliament. We may see a more sensible and intelligent approach to foreign policy from the Islamic Republic who appreciate that being a pariah is not good for long term survival. Let’s hope so.
