Bolton Midfielder, Fabrice Muamba, collapses during a game after a suspected heart attack..

For those of you reading who are in the UK right you, you may be very familiar with the name Fabrice Muamba. He’s a footballer playing for Bolton right now. Well, in case you wasn't aware a short while ago now he collapsed on the pitch during a F.A. Cup game against Tottenham. His exact condition isn’t quite known at this stage but reports are saying that It’s a suspected heart attack, some sources even saying he wasn't breathing on the pitch while receiving aid, all the while being surrounded by fellow players and team-mates, some of which in tears and others clearly praying for him at that time. Tragic, he's only 23 years old.

Tottenham's FA Cup game against Bolton Wanderers has been abandoned after Trotters midfielder Fabrice Muamba collapsed and stopped breathing.

Medics spent 10 minutes trying to resuscitate the 23-year-old on the field before the players were taken off by referee Howard Webb.

BBC Radio 5 live senior football reporter Ian Dennis says the English midfielder is fighting for his life.

The score was 1-1 when he collapsed with no players close-by on 41 minutes.

Medical staff gave Muamba mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and tried to revive him with a defibrillator. In total six medics were treating the player.

This is a very shocking story which happened only in the last hour I believe, particularly for football fans here in the UK like me. Fabrice is an extremely talented young man and from the looks of it, his current condition isn't looking too great right now to say the least, this made even sadder by the fact he's not even 24 years years old - A very young life that is potentially over here.

He plays for Bolton right now but he started out his career at the very team I support as well so I'm fairly familiar with him already. Such a sad story and something no football fan ever wants to see. And something that shouldn't ever happen to such a young man.

Very, very sad moment once again for Football Fans. I'm speechless, gutted and feel for everyone close to Fabrice. Lets hope he pulls through

I just watched that full video and my goodness, that's just shocking to see, it really is. Very tough to watch as well.

He looked to be in a lot of distress there, let's all hope he pulls through here.

Sky News reporting just now that Muamba is now stable.

Sky news say they just got word from hospital. They say his condition is now "stable," so that's great news really. Very encouraging.

Let's hope he makes a speedy recovery.

My posative thoughts/energy go to this poor lad and his family.

i truly hope he pulls through this, this is an echo to Phil O'Donnell in 2007, and there have been a few other cases aswell, all from some sort of heart failier

I just turned on sky news and saw the headline that Fabrice Muamba is now "Critically Ill" in "Intensive care."

I'm not a footie fan but have been watching this on Sky, hope the guy makes a good recovery, too young to be going through stuff like that.

Good to see the fans were respectfull whilst it was all being sorted and when it was called off.

Quite interesting hearing about his story in general, 3 A levels, wants to be an accountant, thats after a hell of a childhood, not your average footballers story. Sounds like he is a real nice guy too.

Me and a mate had just got back to our village for a few pints after the Barnsley - Reading game when we saw it unfold whilst playing pool...

It was a total shock.

The looks on the players faces, such as VDV, who must have kind of known what was going on better than we did watching it.

I would like to congratulate the officials and Scott Parker and Nigel Reo-Coker for influencing and deciding to abandon the game, there isn't any going back from it.

I have a certain feeling he will be okay though, deep down.

This is nothing different to being stable really, he has been practically dead, revived ect, of course he is critically ill. You don't have a heart attack like event and be stable within hours....

The best we can say is: He is alive until told otherwise.

Yeah, you are right there. I was just a little bit surprised to see them go from saying he's "stable" to saying he's "critically ill." At that time we wasn't being told much as well so I assumed, and of course hoped, it actually wasn't as bad as it looked and seemed.

I read in today's paper that his heart was stopped for close on two hours, they defibrillated him on the pitch, but the heart did not restart properly until he reached the Chest Hospital.
All that time without a heartbeat, I just hope he doesn't end up a cabbage, especially with his intelligence, nobody deserves this to happen, I just hope he pulls through.

According to BBC Sport and others, Fabrice Muamba's condition is slowly improving, this is a really good sign for the world of football and the players and fans that witnessed this will probably be very relieved...

Fabrice Muamba's heart condition is "showing small signs of improvement" following his cardiac arrest. A Bolton statement said: "His heart is now beating without the help of medication and he is also moving his arms and legs. "However, his long-term prognosis will remain unclear for some time.
