Are there any liberals or (gasp) actual admitted leftists on this board?

According to this survey, www.politicalcompass.org... I'm a left leaning libertarian. I'm 4 1/2 in from the left and 4 up from the bottom.

If you do the survey, scroll past the results and click on "See your score plotted on a chart with the US 2012 presidential candidates"

I'm a total socialist on a state level. On a federal level, I feel our centralized continent we call the US is far to big to be anything so tight-fisted. This puts me in the strange position of being a supporter of both Ron Paul and President Obama.

In my dream world, Ron Paul would become president and give every state near autonomous freedom and then Obama would become the president of my state.

Let Texas be a religious capitalist nation and let my state be the Norway-esque socialist utopia it wants to be. Simple truth is that the US is just too big to be effectively socialist or conservative.

OK I admit it I'm a leftist, you got me.

Was it something I said?

You know traditionally anyone who was for government reform was of the left, those who wanted to maintain and even increase the power of the state were of the right. So those of you who want smaller government, you are on the wrong side. Libertarianism is left wing term

150 years of Libertarian

The original political meanings of ‘left’ and ‘right’ have changed since their origin in the French estates general in 1789. There the people sitting on the left could be viewed as more or less anti-statists with those on the right being state-interventionists of one kind or another. In this interpretation of the pristine sense, libertarianism was clearly at the extreme left-wing.

www.la-articles.org.uk...

Even in Marxist socialism the state was temporary, and the workers still owned the means of production, meaning the workers had the power not the state. Capitalism gives the state it's power.

Political and economic terms have been redefined to suite the present right wing system. It's a complete myth that the left wing means more government, when anarchism is the extreme of the left, and fascism is the extreme of the right. It's just the redefining and appropriation of left wing terms by the present right wing system and people are too lazy, or too naive, to know any different.

(and I'm guessing this thread is a fishing attempt to name names, and get peoples on government lists!? It's a commie take over Harry! LOL)
