My mandatory introduction

This is to introduce myself.
I have a post to make (eventually) but first I have to go and make 20 inane comments on other peoples posts.

I don't think you will be here long with an attitude like that. If your posts are inane, well, you wrote them.

Well it's wonderful to see your attitude shining through in your opening post.
Looks like you can't wait to contribute to the forums as a whole, Join in the community and pay attention and respect to those who have been here longer. Those whose threads and information have been researched and crafted for our benefit which you can't wait to immerse yourself in and comment on.. This is especially lovely to see seeing as some people just sign up to post an inane thread then leave when it ends up in skunk works, or they don't get the automatic applause they were looking for..
Glad that's totally not the case here.

Looks like we get to try this all over again.. Be sure to read those links below or you can expect a visit again from one of your friendly Mods...! For now you can reply to any thread in any forum you wish. Once you have achieved 20 post replies, you will be able to start your own threads in the appropriate areas & additionally send/receive messages to fellow ATS members. Private Messages can be sent to Staff only, (but after the 20 post minimum, you'll have full access).

Here's a few thoughts before getting onto any one of the 1000's of topical rides at Above Top Secret, also known as ATS, the world's largest Civil & Unique Discussion Community.

*** Please be at least this tall to get on any of the rides, (Johnny stretches his arm outward), and act like an 'civil' adult. This will save you a lot of future stress, frustration and possible action by one of your friendly neighborhood Mods!

*** Please remember that some members are very passionate and vocal depending on what ride your on. Before getting on a ride, you should be mentally fit, emotionally stable and have a strong stomach for theories, conjecture, research and evidence presented that may be contrary to your own.

*** Please be "open-minded" enough to understand that sometimes the ride isn't always what you might think or expect. At times, you may learn something new and 'out-of-the-box' before you get off the ride, this is a natural and normal phenomena.

*** Please note that at times the ride gets overly-heated and "it's strongly suggested" to get off the ride to regroup one's thoughts before continuing. This will also help guarantee that the ride will move forward without getting derailed or explode into a fiery trashbin.

*** Please have fun! Be aware if you act in an uncivil-like manner, use profanity, intentionally spread a hoax and/or get verbally abusive, you will be removed off the ride by a Moderator. This is for your safety, & also for those both young and old on the ride with you.

So buckle up, keep your arms within the ride's comfort zone, have fun and "Deny Ignorance"...!

I guess self deprecating humor does not go down well on ATS.

I suppose what I intended to convey was my frustration at having to pretend to be knowledgable on certain topics in order to ask a simple question, so I may become more knowledgable.It seems a bit like sending your child to school, and insisting he/she answer all the teacher's questions on the subject before the teacher is allowed to start the very first lesson.

I don;t really see it that way. In your first post, which was removed, you apparently exhibited something that did not sit well with people. One of the comments was:

Now in this thread you are still complaining and misconstruing things. Your introduction is not mandatory at all. All ATS wants is for you to make 20 posts. Contribute. Let us see who you are. Why? To cut down on spam for one thing. I'm sure you've been on boards where a new person makes a new thread about adorable teacup Yorkie puppies for sale. So another way of looking at it is that we want to see what you can do before we give you the keys.

Given how you have presented yourself so far, you are being very well treated here.
