So your theory is the "Elite" gave us the internet, then created Anonymous to cause trouble on the internet, so they can take the internet away. Hmmm I can think of one step they could have skipped that would save them all that work. Like not giving us the internet.

There are not 13 root servers. What there are is there are many hundreds of root servers at over 130 physical locations in many different countries. There are twelve organizations responsible for the overall coordination of the management of these servers.

Sure its the first thing I saw when I did oh sooooo simple google search, but the question is, didn't you see this as well or did you just ignore it because it goes against your claims?

I still meet people that think the following is true:
There are 13 root servers in the world
The A-root is the main DNS server
Almost all root servers are located in the USA

All of those statements, and similar, are just completely wrong. You can find more information about the organisations that run the root servers here, and find a map I have done at Google here.
Updated: Got information about a server existing on Fiji, and found on the homepage of Autonomica [I] that servers also existed in Kathmandu and Luleå. If you know more servers missing, just let me know (for example via a comment to this blog).

There are really only 13 named root severs, and the addresses that anonymous has are correct. The 13 named servers (A thru M) are clustered together with a bunch of other servers scattered around the world. There are a few "hidden masters" out there two that are kept secret for good measure.

Anyonymous is counting on their "reflective amplification" technique to render the ENTIRE 13 clusters (283 physical servers exactly) inoperable.For instance, as server A is hit with queries, it will load balance those queries with the 6 physical servers in it's cluster. The technique is to generate so much traffic that all 6 physical servers will not be able to respond.

This to be honest, why destroy our most important tool. Lots of different Anon group, and the real Anon and those that stand beside them would not endorse this one bit.

The thing about a leaderless organization is that anyone can make an Anon video, anyone make make an Anon claim and anyone can organize a DDOS attack.

There will be people diluting Anon through counter productive means including the extravagant claims such as taking down the internet. This is either done by people for the reactions/lulz or by propaganda efforts ala the NSA being concerned about power grid attacks.

Anon stands for freedom of speech/Free interwebs amongst many other human rights concerns. Remember that when reading about all of these stories so that you may decide what is plausible and what is not.

good point indeed. anyone, including governments, can spread propaganda in the name of anon and who's to say who it was. i wouldn't put much merit into this since it's kind of against everything they believe in from what i have read. why would the real anon shut down that which they have chosen to protect, just doesn't make sense to me.

more probable is the govt. posing as anon to spread malicious doings and get more laws passed in order to control the masses.

Probably an early April Fools joke.

nope, but you can shut down the web by taking out most, or all, of the dns root hint servers, there are 13 of them. Google "mafia boy" if you want to see the damage that can be done, I think it was him that took one out.

take out the dns servers, and you will need the direct IP of any site you are trying to access.

This of course ignores opendns and other roguedns servers you could be using.

But don't think it can't happen, it can. You can't really destroy the network, by design, but you can remove the ability for the average user to navigate that network.

Worse yet, if successful, they could redirect traffic to rogue dns and gawd knows what they would be doing, in fact, if you read the nfo posted in the OP I believe they specifically state that is the plan.

Again though, grain of salt, how is taking out the web protecting you? How is hacking the psn and selling your credit card number protecting you?
