In Scotland 5 out of 10 women think it's okay to hit a man.

Seriously though, are the women very soft up there? Do they take it because that's the done thing in those parts?
I ask because a lot of men hit just because they get away with it. If a woman picked up the nearest poker and wielded it like a banshee, a lot of those men might think twice.

Asking if women are soft is avoiding the issue of violence, imo. I'm surprised about that Scottish statistic.

You see, this is one thing I don't get about today's society and will never understand.

If somebody is antagonizing you all to hell and back, you should be able to retaliate and beat the holy crap out of them.

I'll never understand why it's okay for someone to hurt you emotionally but it's not okay to hurt them back physically.

Gender differences? nobody has the right to be there and just berate you all to hell and back.

If somebody is doing that to you you should have the right to defend yourself.

If somebody is hurting you you, you should have the right to hurt them back. This sit there and take it is absolute nonsense.

Apparently assault and battery laws exist for people like you.

That said, I too understand why women who are financially, emotionally and psychologically abused just snap one day and pull out the shotgun. Don't think it's "right" though.

PS. I'm honestly surprised at the amount of physical violence that seems to be commonplace in many of our members' lives. Seems my world is a truly gentle place, comparatively speaking.

That's called cherry picking to make a strawman argument and being judgmental based on that strawman argument and a wrongful assumption .judgement.

And it seems no matter what I say and no matter how I say it, people are just going to attack me no matter what if I have a different perspective than them. They can't help it, I suppose.

I hope someday you get harassed and antagonized all to hell and back and see how you react when you're the one who's being hurt. Maybe then, and probably only then, you'll understand where I'm coming from. Maybe then, you'll think back on this post.

But somehow, I doubt it.

People will see only what they want to see.

They should do a poll on how many women think it's okay to hit a man.

The result might be even more shocking.

Hmmm. I did not attack you.

...Just to clarify, is my post the kind of commentary you find deserving of physical retribution?

Yes, you did berate me. You implied that I was a violent woman beater when you said that abuse and battery laws are for people like me.

And no, that remark would not be worth a violent response.

But it would not make me your friend and I would not want anything to do with you. Nor do I have any more interest in engaging in any kind of discussion with you.

I really wish this forum had an ignore function.

I have nothing more to say to you.

Nothing nice, anyway.

I said abuse and battery laws are for people like you because you said "I'll never understand why it's okay for someone to hurt you emotionally but it's not okay to hurt them back physically" - meaning such laws exist for people who don't know the difference between words and actions.

At the same time, I also recognize that abuse is abuse, whether physical, emotional, psychological or financial. ...Hope that clarifies things.

Sounds like my recently departed Grandma.
