Murder on the news? Please help

So I had this dream, I wasn't in it (which is weird because I am always in my dreams) It was like 3rd person but then it alternated back to first person. So I was a female news anchor, and I had to kill someone on national television. After I did that, I tried walking out of the door and handed my gun to (lets call her the production assistant) and she shot me. This was really weird

In the 80s there was a female broadcaster who shot herself live on the evening news.. Her final words were something to the effect of - 'In accordance with (whatever network she was working for)'s policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts, I give you a live suicide.'

I don't recall the woman's name or the network she worked for, but it's a pretty well known thing that happened. As far as I know there are no tapes of it available to the public.

been watching any murder mysteries or something where the killer got shot lately as sometimes it can take a few days for you to process what you have seen as the first thing i though of was columbo or something like that
