So, we have a mobile /cell phone tower wanting to go onto our roof at work.
I was wondering REALLY, how bad are they?
The proposal is for 3x 2.63mt panel antennas, and all Im getting is customers coming in saying that they are going to oppose it. I couldn't really care either way, as I don't live near, but the owner does own the building.

I've read most of the scare-mongers websites, but a damn hairdryer gives off more EMR's than this thing.

Does anyone have any links or stories that they could share? I'd like to find out if possible both sides of the argument. The one good thing is that it's my phone providers tower, so finally I would have 5bar service as opposed to the 1-2 bars.

Cheers

Before my brother got his job with Boeing, he designed cell towers. They're safe and they provide multiple points of access should a section of the city/county/state have a grid shutdown. Do you have any idea how many cellular signals are surrounding us?

Wait till people start on GPS!

I load up a GPS analyzer on my phone, and see upward of 12 at any given time, all beep beep beep and thwonk thwonk thwonk down on us.

And while I admit I am wary of the high level of electromagnetism around us, and I DO know there is some call to be alert, if the sun doesn't kill us ( it does much more damage to us every day ) then all this paranoia will simply make us all commit suicide.

I feel myself buzzing all the time these days... and not in a good way, but spreading FUD only makes youtube light up like a beacon.

*I saw on youtube they are attacking us with ultra special syncrhnoised beams of wotsits!!!" argh...

I really want a house boat...

Oh and edit two, I was agreeing with you DaTroof.

You're scary, but you're not scared to be such
That is a good thing. Truth... Indeed!!

LOL Thanks bro.

I used to be ultra paranoid, and to a degree I still am about certain things, it's just that over time I've come to see how clouded my judgement gets when I jump to conclusions without concrete evidence. Your comment about GPS is spot on. At any given intersection in America, there might be as many as 25+ GPS signals (not including cell phones) beaming down.

Just out of curiosity, in what ways am I scary? haha

Hahaha.. You say it as it is man, and don't take any guff for it!

Easy to fall into that, and I'd get me a post ban post haste if I did that

Hahaha...well, the motto of the site is "Deny Ignorance" is it not?

Thanks for the praise.

I'm "lucky" enough to have family & friends involved with many aspects discussed here... Department of Defense, Boeing, FEMA, US Navy/Air Force, American Medical Association, etc...

Usually these towers use directional antennas. This means that the majority of the elctromagnetic radiation is directed away from the building it is placed on. It would not surprise me that the radiation in the next building is larger than in the building with antennas on the roof. Also see: en.wikipedia.org...

Cell phone towers are not good for your health at all.

What they are good for, is the economy. And the economy comes before health.

So there is no other option but for a small group of rich men to approve them as "safe".

I wonder how many lives have been saved because people were able to contact help using their mobile phone.

My office building has 8, 2 on each corner of the top floor.

I have full 3G bars every inch of the floor, that's about all I have noticed so far.

Well, going off of memory with-out any brush up on the info... cell phones can shoot out anywhere from 1.2 to 2.8 gigahertz of microwaves (i think microwave ovens start at 2.8 for defrost setting), and when my buddy was upgrading "the network" to 4g out here (installing new more powerful dishes to boost the existing umbrella/spiderweb of microwave signals "above our heads") he informed me that the dishes shoot a minumum of 60 gigahertz (old dishes), but as a standard is something like 100 to 180 gigahertz for 4g...

SO DON'T STAND IN FRONT OF THE DISH

That is the exact reason!!! My buddy had some info/pics regarding how bad they are... but ended up getting to scared to let me post the information here (My nonchalant comment about the possible collapse of a multi-billion dollar industry must have spooked him)

Some of the things were...
* Bees at almost everyone he worked on, that would be fine coming in but dry up in the radiation and fall to the ground (from 3 to 5 to actual swarms)
* Being told to point them at schools (almost every school has a gigantic cellphone tower on the property)
* Above our heads and raining down on us at all times is "the signal" radiation... and our communication techniques use this radiation to transfer the information
* Now they have dishes so powerful they can go through solid concrete walls, trees, etc and new forms of waves that technicians can put super bends in and have it go around or over a hill

I don't know definitively, but do believe it's about $2000/mth

thanks ATS'ers
But did read, that here they pump out (I like how they say 1900mHz as opposed to 1.9gHz
)which places it right at the end of the band of radiation. Did also read that satellite dishes exceed these cell towers, Hair dryers pump out 300mG of radiation which the "safe" limit is 2.3mG

As a former tower rigger (one who erects and upgrades the towers) I must say the only threat posed is if you stand directly infront on the antenna and dishes themselves. For the most part the antenna even on roof tops are placed in areas that makes that almost impossible according to design and installation criteria.

As for the microwave dishes, in order to get connectivity the dishes have to be aligned with one and other. And for that to happen there can not be anything in the way (tree's, a guy wire, anything really). The microwave dishes are how the towers communicate with one and other, these have specifications that make it so that they are place at least 2 meters (7 feet) above where anyone is going to be passing in front of it.

From experiance dangling 600feet in the air in front of an active one, they well mess you up, just the short period of time I spent in front of and near one that had been turned down. I experianced intense headaches, and what felt like the fillings in my mouth were on fire and burning out of my teeth. That is in direct contact but when beside and behind the dish nothing what so ever.

Now I'm not gonna say there is nothing to worry about, yes there is energy coming and going from all the apperatus that are hanging off the towers, but from my experiance you only suffer if you are as I said in direct contact with the antennas (right in front of) most dishes as I said are placed high enough that you should never pass in front of one.

But as for having them on the roof and having people complain, seems like there wasting there breathe on something they have done no research into, or are going bye word of mouth, from someone else lacking the fortitude to do some digging.

The best I ever had I was 400' up a tower when a lady started yelling at us about poisening her neighbors, getting real angry that we would not come down as she requested, and stop our work. She proceeds to get real fired up and tell us that she's had enough she's calling the police. In turn she proceeds to pull out her cell phone and call the police from the base of the tower.

Now if thats not a conflict of interests I just don't know what is LoL

And as for what people get paid for having them. Well it varies dependant upon which carrier owns the tower, height of the tower and foot print the tower leaves, weather it is a multi purpose tower, and how many carriers share space on the faces of the tower. If you have a multiple carrier super high tower in your yard your making out pretty good thats a fact.....

Thanks for making my day.
Had a local come in yday and say he had problems with his heart due to phone being in his top pocket, now he now places on belt in front, so I ask if he's had his prostate checked lately

I don't know definitively, but do believe it's about $2000/mth

The lease rate for the business mobile phones Towers depends on the rate like it is about $20,000 – $310,000 in Florida whereas $91,000 – $535,000 in Massachusetts.
