Secret Book of John

Although I don't fully accept any belief system, the explanation of our existence in the secret book of john does make some sense. Maybe the story itself of god, aeons, sophia, and yaldabaoth is not accurate, but the part about ignorance holds true to everyone on Earth. The story says that the demi-urge was hidden in a cloud of ignorance and in that cloud we were created. Humans are ignorant, they make claims about where they came from and where they are going, but their beliefs are only relative to them. The fact is that we don't know where we came from. So in a sense the story about us being in ignorance is true.

10 When the priests withdrew from the Holy Place, the cloud filled the temple of the LORD. 11 And the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled his temple.

12 Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; 13 I have indeed built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.”
