This just occurred to me as I was thinking about the Contraceptive mandate and the political battle going on around it right now in Washington and that slut Sandra Fluke...

ObamaCare really is the death panels that everyone has been talking about. Essentially, now Government will be able to decide who can and cannot have babies! This is step one of his plan.

Step Two will most likely target senior citizens and most likely sometime during the Fall. Why the fall? Seniors won't vote for Obama this coming election so, he will eliminate them. He might do some "good" cuts to Medicare and Medicaid all the while forcing the old to get onto his poorly run gov't system and refusing them service.

Step Three will then be cripples and diseases. If you have a disease or a 'condition' that the gov't feels should not be looked at, cared for, or fixed, then you will be disposed of!

There are more steps but it seems very likely, well, at least step two does.

Ok in what alternate reality is the fact that women in the United States having access to contraceptives -- implies that this administration will legislate family size. Bachman just came up with this to share with the loonie toons who think she is a world class brain trust.

Really how can you say this with a straight face.

I see Obama as having a "global-centric" agenda versus an "American-centric" one.

SO your idea has merit.

I think you meant to say, "I have a completely unfounded guess at a suspicion of an idea that I have no way of proving".

As someone who has worked with healthcare data for over a decade, I can tell you exactly what Obamacare is. It's a great idea and is desperately needed. Let me explain why it is so necessary.

Hospitals:
The average hospital does a decent job of getting people in, diagnosing them, treating them, and moving them out. What they are absolutely horrible at is understanding their population of patients and potential patients as a whole. They cannot get their data in a format to do any kind of useful analysis. Worse than that, they cannot do any kind of rapid, automatic checking of information that could prevent serious injury or death.

Insurance Companies:
They are so overwhelmed with data that in many cases they simply pay claims while not really understanding whether or not a procedure should have been done. They are in better shape than the hospitals but still need some serious improvement in order to operate more efficiently.

Healthcare reform/Obamacare:
One of the biggest impact areas in healthcare is technological improvements. Hospitals and Insurance companies will now be able to record and track diagnoses and procedures in much greater detail. In other words, they will be able to understand what is wrong with a patient to a much greater degree of detail and what was done to try to cure/heal them to a much greater degree of detail. That alone will have a huge impact on healthcare and costs.

I get a kick out of reading this site and respect the feelings and intuitions and suspicions of others. Normally I can read those types of posts with interest. This topic however has no room for unfounded opinions. This reform has the potential to save lives by the hundreds of millions.

The crux of the reform will deliver evidence to the doctors and insurance companies. That evidence is enormously valuable to patients, doctors, and the companies who pay for services. For the first time in history we will be able to track what is wrong with people in the world and apply the most successful ways to treat them. We will also be in a position to prevent mistakes that hurt/kill people. Look up the statistics, hospitals are a dangerous place. Hundreds of millions of dollars are wasted each year on mistakes. If the patient records, doctor records, insurance company records are better, we will be able to prevent mistakes.

Please don't parrot the political attacks that you're hearing out there. Take some time and really understand how beneficial these changes are for all of us. They may save your life some day.

To the contrary my friend, my life was saved from the old system. Yes insurance companies screwed me over sometimes too, but that's the glory of working with companies, they are always competing with each other so I found another one that would cover me!

I don't want the new system taking its place no matter how beneficial it may seem to you. I may be bias but, if I can get my life saved on the old system so can everyone else!

Great post, and sorely needed information from someone who can speak from a first hand perspective. As a Canadian, I'm well aware that the US views the Canadian system as broken and socialist. But one of the main problems with the US system is it's run for profit. That creates the main problem for the Canadian system, why work in Canada when you can work in the US system and make 5 times the money?

anything to help provide equal quality medical care is good in my opinion, but again, I'm a socialist.

But sadly, your words are probably lost on those you directed them at, they have their "facts" and will not deviate from the script.

Why are the US doctors the best trained and best equipped, yet the US always gets beat out by socialized medicine for life expectancy and quality of care. Access to care is another issue Obamacare was supposed to go at.

If you are an American, you can get access to the best medical services the world has to offer, IF you can afford it.

Sadly, most people will never see how broken the system is until it's too late, and it's their home being foreclosed on, and their life savings spent on cancer treatment. As well preventative medicine is being almost completely ignored, and I can't ignore the profit angle to that, it's more profitable to TREAT a disease than it is to CURE it.

Once you sure it, profits go down, sales stop, but if you merely concentrate on treating, you have an endless supply of income.

Tell it to the guy who was refused a pancreas transplant and no other insurance company would cover him because of his condition. But I guess we can't all have commy pinko socialist facist fatass Michael Moore coming to our rescue and giving the insurance company such grief that they decided to give the guy a pancreas and SAVE HIS LIFE.

But I forgot... he should have thought of that before he got sick right?

Civilizations will be judged by how they treated their poor, the US/Western system will be judged harshly my friend

You don't live in reality much. I don't know if you were being sarcastic about Fluke or not. Pretty much borderline trolling. Everything you are worried about is already taking place

Example:

Step one, you create pills that never cure disease only prolong it as long as you can pay (Done already)

Also you do realize that this contraception fight has nothing to do with religion or female rights (even though it affects women directly) this is the insurance industry using religion and lobbying the right side to not allow this to pass.

Facts:

Under the bill the Church or employer is not involved, it allows the female to go to the insurance company directly.

Approx. 98% of Christians in our country already use contraception

Men can go to the doctor and their insurance company will 99% of the time cover Viagra.

The insurance industry stands to lose a lot of money when it is passed.

You do the math, Mr. Smarty-pants.

This has nothing to do with coverage or pre-existing conditions. It has to do with precision and giving the people that take our lives in their hands the best information possible to succeed.

You're obviously not a go by the numbers kind of guy. You must enjoy gambling if you roll the dice with your health like that. The fact is that this world gets better with more knowledge in it. The new system will allow us to learn more about what treatments work best and prevent doctors from making mistakes.

Further, it will also make the system cheaper. Mistakes in medicine cost a lot of money.

To sum it up again, the new system makes healthcare safer, more effective, and cheaper. If you don't want that to happen, please explain why.

Then why try to limit them. Insurance companies are willing to pay, no insurance companies see the financial and social value in paying for pregnancy prevention, so why put stumbling blocks in the way. Ron Paul dosen't want the fact that contraceptives are available made known -- he is for abstinence only education.

The republicans are trying to defund Planned Parenthood, a place many women who could not afford contaceptives. The republicans keep trying to pass these idiotic life begins at conception laws that would effectively ban contraception. Santorum has stated that he is against birth control because it causes people to "do things in the sexual realm" that are not right. Really what kind of bronze age thinking is that.

You do know that many many women take birth control pills for things completely unrelated to contraception.

The republicans want to make the fact that your company insurance plan can not pay for contraceptives, if the owner ceo whatever in the company decides that they have a moral objection to it or any other thing covered by the plan. Republicans want the druggist to be able to say that he won't distribute plan B.

I was 15 when this was all settled in 1965 -- I can not believe that these troglodytes want to revisit birth control.

So this make me say to my self about your post I CAN NOT BELIEVE ANYONE COULD BE THIS BLIND!

It's funny that there is no question about Viagra being a problem. Think about that. Tell me it is not totally stupid.

Here is another state banning the knowledge of contraception
