This is an interesting development. Though the article questions whether anonymous is really behind the attacks, their twitter account supposedly takes credit.

Personally, I'm not sure what will or can be gained from a digital war on religions. Christianity in particular. If the attacks were targeted at exposing corrupt religious leadership in the world, that I could go for. But alienating anyone who is religious, christian or otherwise, seems counter productive.

Members claiming to be part of the formless Internet hacker group "Anonymous" took down three church websites on March 2, replacing their main pages with a clip from evolutionary biologist and atheist Richard Dawkins and posting a statement that branded all religion as a "sickness."

This is the clip from Richard Dawkins.

"Let us be clear from the start: any kind of religion is a sickness to this world. A sickness that creates hate and intolerance, a sickness that brings people to wage war on their fellow people, a sickness that has come to this world long time ago, when mankind wasn't educated, a sickness that brought false hope and suppression to those who believed and often even more terror and suppression to those who dared not to believe."

This is the other video mentioned in the article "declaring war on America".

What do you think ATS? Is there a method to their madness? Or...

I don't see this as anonymous...at least not the original.

Copycats? Govt? Or even the Church itself in order to garner more interest?

I don't know but this is too far off what Anon started out to be. Remember by the people, for the people...all about the people?

Seems contrary to their initial goals.

Peace

I understand where they are coming from,
If you look at history, that is exactly the picture it paints (sorry religious people, thats just my observation.
As a note: Im not an athiest either, i do not label myself.

But history shows us this, and it still happens to this day. Religious intolerance. If they ceased to exist, then how much hate would stop? (a good portion of it)

Doubt it's Anonymous, there are christians in that organization who wouldn't allow this to happen. Anonymous is about securing the rights of American citizens and people all over the world, not violating them and this would be a violation of the right to religious freedoms.

We can handle being picked on, we've been picked on for 2000 years, that will not change till the very end. At least this is a peaceful way. Used to be people like Nero Caesar would dip us in boiling oil and light us on fire at night to be his "Roman Candles" to light his garden by. I think putting up with some dipsh*t hackers' games is a stroll in the park.

I'm not a believer and I enjoy listening to Dawkings but I've always thought there's more to his agenda than just religion.
I agree with others though, if anon are for real I doubt they would do this.

I would tend to agree with you and Jude11, but they do take responsibility on twitter for one, and only one attack. Here is a screen capture from twitter.

So we should just condone everything you do that we disagree with, because if we disagree with what you do its called "hating"? Religious intolerance indeed, you folks do not tolerate religion at all. All "religious intolerance" is, is that we disagree with what you people do so you call us intolerant and haters because we do not follow along with you like all the other lemmings do.

Sorry but, i am not going to conform to your wishes by condoning the acts of evil you and people like you do. You can call me a bigot, call me intolerant, call me whatever, but i have my beliefs and my convictions and i will holdfast to them regardless of what you people think.

I am not going to buckle underneath the weight of you conformity terrorists. I choose not to be one of the mindless drones out seeking after their own desires and pleasures while morality slides down the drain.

We have our own laws to obey, if you don't like it, we do not care. No one is forcing our beliefs on you at the point of a sword or a gun but we will stand up for what we believe in as is our right to do.

No need to get so defensive, i dont really care what you or anyone believes in. And i am not against religion as a whole,

Believe and practice as you so choose, thats not what im saying you shouldn't do.

I'm saying that they make a valid point, there are several religions out there that do spread hate and intolerance to other people. (Like gays for example).

Highly insulting to my character as well, btw. You do not know me, so don't pretend that you do.

Nope, we will still have...
Murders
Rapists
Pedophiles
Molesters
Thieves
swindlers
Jerks
Wife beaters
Don't you guys see, it's evil trying to turn the world against God. Man has been fighting and enslaving each other since we came to be.
They fought over territory, women, water, food, etc. and if religion was erased right now, well, it would all remain the same. They would just use another reason besides their beliefs.

And the cure for all of those things is to allow open carry and conceal carry in every part of the world. No one would try anything if everyone thought everyone else was packing a 9 or something.

And yeah, it would probably stay the same. Your right.

When religions start being tolerant to other religions and everyone regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, and etc. Then my opinion will change on the matter. Until then i see most of it teachings that have been warped overtime to suit the needs of people who are not you. The beliefs are there, im not saying that they are not there. But its also delusional to think that it hasn't been tampered with in 2000 years.

As a note: Im basing this off history, and people i have seen and talked to being intolerant because of their beliefs, that may not be you, or anyone you know, or your belief system or whatever. Powers of observation.

Dawkins' opinion can definitely be trusted in this case. I consider him an authority on mental illness.

This is most likely more of the discreditation campaign. The reminder of Operation V is the main indicator of such, IMHO. The media are going to love that video, because it makes Anonymous look like Al Qaeda. Whoever put that video up gave the MSM a major win for the general public who don't know better; but those of us with half a brain are able to identify it for what it is.

www.abovetopsecret.com... - I wrote this yesterday, concerning Anonymous. Some of you may find it enlightening, and it will hopefully prevent a few of you from pouncing on every headline you find concerning Anon, and immediately assuming it is official.
