Hi, I don't really think ATS is the best place to ask a question about this, but who knows, maybe. This is just the only forum-like website I am registered on. Anywho.

I am looking to purchase a Russian or Yugoslavian SKS relatively soon, and I was hoping one day to modify it to accept duckbilless mags with a mag adapter.. I was just wondering if I put on a mag adapter, if it would effect the original stock or innards of the gun, because I would like the option to switch the stock and everything back to it's original form if I ever wanted. If that makes sense.

I know this isn't the best website to ask this question on, but if any of you know I would really appreciate an answer, as I am very new to SKS's. Thanks.

Do a search there have been several threads on modding a SKS. Try the weapons forum. You can mod it to accept an AK mag.

Why you need more than ten rounds of glorious 7.62x39mm cartridge. If you cannot hit larger side of barn with ten glorious Soviet cartridge than additional cartridge will be as useless as Chechnyan rebel trying to do the maths of the arithmetic. Do you not thinks Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov, designer of glorious Samozaryadnyj Karabin sistemy Simonova assault rifle, made of the thinkings about more cartridge? Perhaps you know better than Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov, perhaps you thinks that putting Samozaryadnyj Karabin sistemy Simonova assault rifle in black plastic stock so it can take extended magazine of capitalist company Tasco like Chechnyan thinks it can take Republic of Dagestan from glorious Soviet Republic only to find out, once you drive to the places of shooting in your pick-up truck and ten gallon hat that desecrated Samozaryadnyj Karabin sistemy Simonova malfunctions more than plastic American rifle of Eugene Stoner designs. If you desire more glorious Soviet cartridge and who doesn't, maybe you should be making of the savings of your Rubles for Romanian copy of glorious Avtomat Kalashnikova and leave poor Samozaryadnyj Karabin sistemy Simonova assault rifle alone.

Make sure you look at what mods are illegal and what mods are OK... some of them will get you 10 years in prison.

Haha very funny, I like your Trailer Park Boys theme going on there too. I would definitely like to be able to keep all of the original parts like I said, because it's a good looking rifle and I like the history behind it. I just don't want to always have to load with a stripper clip.

But like I said, I just maybe wanted to one day give it a duckbilless mag adapter and a more tactical look, without permanently modifying or changing anything. And I don't want an AR-15 because imo they're ugly as hell and are expensive.

But anyways, were I to give an SKS a tactical look I wouldn't half-ass it with a cheap synthetic stock. Go big or go home.

"Ricky! There's a samsquanch right outside my shed!"

Here's a thread that I remembered I posted to.

One poster has a way to mod the magazine as well.

Anything to help.
