Funny, AJ forgot to mention the fact that the Pentagon ruled out a war with Syria, as well as UK and France. He also forgot to mention Iran has been planning its own coup against Assad and trying to figure out other ways to get him out of power.

Forgot to mention Turkey too. Preparing their military to strike hoping NATO asks them.

It's not about what is in the emails, it's about how AJ presents them. Completely out of context for his own agenda. The information is highly credible as it is a report from a senior analyst at Stratfor who attended a round table meeting at the pentagon.

The problem, is it only gives us one view of the situation in Syria, and AJ focuses solely on the things which fit into his little cup. I don't know how he could mention one, without mentioning the other as they were all released on the same day.

So yes, the Pentagon meeting was leaked. One detail AJ didn't cover is that NATO does not want war with Syria.

Also, Iran has its hand in the pie too it seems. They want a cut of Syria, and they want Assad out:

The Iranians are weighing in the situation in Syria very carefully. One must read beyond the public statements of the Iranians, especially ayatollah Khamenei. Both Khamenei and Ahmadinejad have concluded that Asad's regime cannot be rescued. It is perfectly understood that the regime in Damascus will fall along lines similar to the Libyan model. There will have to be a coup in Damascus, be it a military or political one.

One must not dismiss the pragmatism of Khamenei. Iran appears to be willing to use its influence in Syria to stage a coup, provided that it is able to ensure that the new leadership will continue to pursue excellent relations with Tehran.

The Iranians feel they need to act on Syria soon because the Turks have their own plans for Syria and are not coordinating with the Iranians. He says the Turks are moving slowly but systematically. Iran does not want to allow Turkey to take over Syria. Whereas the Turks are coordinating with the Brotherhood and the FSA, the Iranians prefer a palace coup in damascus in order to maintain their ties with Asad's successors.

Even Assads own mother wants him out:

Bashar's mother - the matriarch of the family (along the lines of her mother-in-law) - is disappointed in Bashar and Maher for the mess that they have created. She has been saying things like had your father been alive things would have never come to such a point. She is very concerned that her boys will meet the same fate as al-Qaddhafi and his sons and is pressing Bashar and Maher to seriously look into an exit strategy before the rapidly closing window of opportunity completely shuts itself.

AJ also forgot this little tidbit of information:

On Syria - the conversation centered on how far Turkey is actually going to go. TR325 explained that the Turkish plan is centered on civil war in Syria. Officially, it's Turkey providing the main training,a rms and support to FSA. Unofficially, US and TUrkey are doing this together in deploying SOF for this mission. Notice all the talk in the press now about civil war breaking out in Syria.

Either the Stratfor email was bad intel, or he is just covering to dispel any sign of weakness. But I don't think he has lost his position:

In a speech to officials from his ruling AK Party, Erdogan did not comment specifically on his health but attacked those behind the report.

“It is just God and only God who knows how long each of us will live,” he said. “When the time of death comes, you cannot move it back or forth by an hour.”

“Those who fall for rumours and calculate the time we have left in this world are not only impudent but in a state of insolence,” said Erdogan, who has resumed a busy schedule after two operations and appeared in strong voice.
