It seems that information floating through intelligence circles suggest that Carlos the Jackal was working as a double (triple?) agent. (Monetizing his relationships throughout the world)

His locations were under surveillance and known at all times by the

Since he was just a gangster, had no
religion, and fighting for the Palestinian cause was a good cover
for him, he sold the information he collected on Arab countries also
to Western intel agencies for good money

The biggest revelation in these leaked emails though, is probably that France arrested him to protect him, as the Arabs were getting wise that he was selling them out.

A coalition of Arab intel agencies led by the
Iraqis were on their way to assassin him on his way from Syria to
Czechoslovakia where he planned to go to retrieve funds. The plan
was to attack him in Budapest were he owned few safe homes.

This all seemed to come up when Fred Burton started inquiring about one of the Jackal's associates.

Bruno Breguet, a Swiss pro-Palestinian revolutionary, disappeared in
1995 on a ferry from Italy bound for Greece. He was close to Carlos
the Jackal and Magdalena Kopp.

I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm not. So much is known and proven but what has changed? What's it going to take for people to wake up and see that the intelligence agencies worldwide are a cancer? This is a good find. Exciting time to be alive.
