A system to track stars

This might seem silly. Or might be available, Im not sure... But what about some kind of tracking system to alert us if a post we made received a star.... We all respect stars and I think we all like receiving them... Sometimes I forget about a post I made and I see IVe gotten stars and have no idea where they came from. I think to myself, hmm maybe I made a good post that I forgot about...

Lots of stars are handed out and I could see how some people may find it annoying. So maybe it could be an option feature. Like alert me when my post receives 5 or more stars... I dunno. Just a thought...

It would be a nice idea. It would be nice to see a morph of the ats skin to make it easier to see when you have a reply from a thread or something. Like the notifications you get on facebook. So you dont have to trawl through a few clicks to see if you have a reply or something...

lmao I too misread it, my first thought was yes! Something to track the constellations on ATS, it would be the bomb!

If you mean just a notice about where you got a star, wouldn't that get cumbersome in your PM box? Some threads get a gazillion stars. I don't see how that could work. Enjoy the mystery.

Sometimes I think the star system is used as a way to evaluate the level of interest or receptivness of members. So you star a post it basically states you agree/co sign the post. ADD them all together and you can almost build a profile of the member, I say almost but it can be a little view of the starring members character..

Which is why I said it could be an optional thing. Like you could set the alert to notify you if one of your post has reached 3 stars or greater, or 5 stars or greater or 10 stars or greater. And it doesnt have to keep notifying you, it could be a one time alert, but this way in case you forgot about a good post you made, you have a tracking system to help you find it.

I am a star Fairy Godmother. Sometimes I star to praise a person or encourage them, even if the post is not so great. It isn't always about a great thread or post. I kinda see your point. We'll see what what Gimli has to say.

I like that members don't know who starred their post/thread. It's like a little pat on the back... simple, yet effective.

I'm not asking for us to find out who starred who, just a notification the stars happened

Agreed...this site seems to be rotting on a vine these days. No offense ATS.

But how bout an APP for the biggest conspiracy website in the world? I mean if the frigging pioneer woman can have one, I don't understand why we are limited to the dumbed down "mobile ATS". Also, the tracking system. When I log onto Facebook, I get notifications of who has replied to my posts, still NOTHING like that on this site. And I spend at least three hrs a day on here, more than double the time I'm on FB.

It's time ATS caught up to trends.

Although I do like the trending topics addition...but IMO is second to real time information as to whom is posting, flagging, or starring my threads/comments.

But I love you ATS

ETA: and I also, FOUR years ago contacted the three amigos with the app idea, before apps were mainstream. I also put them in contact with an app developer. The reasoning from brass was it was too expensive. It's now 2012. Still nothing. I hope this sight continues to evolve to users needs and technology. So far, it's a big fail.

An ATS app has always been in consideration, but it's very expensive for a custom platform such as ATS.... and we're not going to do something simple or limited either.

That being said, we have a recent new-hire that might get is into a killer iOS app.

Any thoughts on a star aleart system so? Or is more complicated to do than I'm thinking?
