I did a quick search for this but couldnt find it on here so i thought i would post it for you guys to take a look at.

Ever complain on Facebook that you were feeling "sick?" Told your friends to "watch" a certain TV show? Left a comment on a media website about government "pork?"

If you did any of those things, or tweeted about your recent vacation in "Mexico" or a shopping trip to "Target," the Department of Homeland Security may have noticed.

In the latest revelation of how the federal government is monitoring social media and online news outlets, the Electronic Privacy Information Center has posted online a 2011 Department of Homeland Security manual that includes hundreds of key words (such as those above) and search terms used to detect possible terrorism, unfolding natural disasters and public health threats.

There has also been an obvious increase in the requirement for people to link their social networking accounts to online media websites in order to post comments on the articles that are published. I imagine they want people to post their remarks using their true identity, as opposed to a screen name, so they can bypass the extra steps it would take to identify someone by name if they uttered the "prohibited words."

I'd express my opinion on this but that would be dangerous and subversive.

So I'll just say that this leaves me speechless,...

Literally and figuratively

I really think we're down to one step toward the total police state: Gun confiscation. And it's coming.

this kind of headlines always makes me laugh,
what would you really expect... government practically owns the social outlets
If you want privacy, stay home, stay off the internet, and turn your phone off..

This reminds me of a very dishonest guy i once knew. Always looking over his shoulder, always paranoid. I think Big Brother is finally realizing we're fed up with their crap. A government that's actually for the benefit of it's people, wouldn't be afraid of them.

Not me. The U.S. is the last country to fall, and if I have anything to say about it, it's not gonna happen. They want my guns? I'll give them the ammo first, and I have a LOT to give.

And I am not alone.

Well I live in Canada and trust me... I don't think any country is safe anymore. I think it is time we took our planet back. I don't feel violence is the answer, but resistance can be just as powerful.

Peaceful resistance? Against whom? The police? Military? I wish I could agree with you, but again we're too late. Look at how well-conditioned the cops are. Conditioned to follow orders no matter what. Firing rubber bullets into unarmed crowds, throwing helpless people to the ground and physically abusing them, for what? Exercising their first amendment rights?

Let's just hope the military isn't as brainwashed and we get them on our side. Citizens v. cops = no match. Citizens win. Citizens v. cops and military? Goodbye freedom - for everyone.

Violence only leads to more violence. It is harder to tptb to justify killing a peaceful person than a gun firing person. I do see what you are saying, but I just think that the violence option is the one tptb seem to like and push for. I say we not give them what they want. We not follow their example. It's only to late if you are dead.

the police and military in a revolution would likely remain loyal to the government, for a short period of time before internal unrest within those entities would take over. 1/3 begin to realize the unjust actions taking place and defy orders in the name of the citizens, it always happens. too late I might add, then the long drawn out conflict begins a civil war which lasts a year or more depending on the force and intent to control the outcome.

Everyone is severely missing the point here.

These keywords are NOWHERE near a complete list of what they monitor on phone lines, text messages & e-mail on a constant basis.

But that's not what this document is for. It's clearly about using those keywords to find stories that they need to "REPORT" within their organization. It says they need to verify all information with a Tier 1 news source (AP news source) before submitting reports on activity.

Besides... do you think every time a teenager says "That Lamborghini is SICK!" on Facebook, they're going to generate a trouble ticket?? HAHA..

Paranoia ChaChaCha!!

Did anyone actually read the report?

It looks like it's creating a picture of events, and specifically states it will not report on private citizens.

Or did I misread that?

No...you didn't misread it.

To me it sounds like busy work. You know, the kind at the end of your shift that you do to help justify the time you're still spending on the clock.

I can't help but wonder if they employ professional linguists to help with this. My gut tells me that they should but don't.

It's amazing what people can get accomplished on the internet that they sometimes can't get accomplished talking person to person. I'm going to give both sides of this issue a hint: ( And no, I'm not going to keyword stuff so they can pick up on this quickly....they're going to have to earn this one.)

If you're trying to get a message across concerning one profession, you don't HAVE to talk in code using words that correspond with that same profession. Is someone wants to talk about terrorist activities in Yemen they can conversate about the local bakery in Lincoln Nebraska if they do it right. All they need really is just a short history of verbally communicating with each other in person so they know beforehand what types of words to use.

And the fact that this list is now published will make the bad guys' jobs all that easier. UNLESS of course that list is partially made up of synonyms. The bottom line: If you can't outsmart the Govt.....you deserve to get caught. I mean really.....they're not that bright.

On a side note, I just thought I'd throw this link up. It is relevant and I'm not promoting it in any way but it does ( if you buy the DVD) give you a little fresh insight into words and how they impact the world in general.

I would tell you that someone in Indiana streamed it to me at one point but that might be illegal so I won't say one way or another if that happened.

( C'mon govt., pick up on this....I KNOW you can
)
