survival fishing {with spider web and a banana kite}

hi guys and galls
i would like to discuss [unusual] fishing techniques in this thread
i recently saw this episode of river monsters
and i have to say ,it was one of the best episodes, i have seen of this show
in this episode the host basicly goes to an far away island
where he asks the native people,who are well known for their fishing skills
to teach him some of these ancient fishing skills
at first they dont want to have anything to do with him
but he proves himself and he gets shown more and better fishing techniques along the way
the whole episode is kinda mysthical because the guys there have so much belief in [fishing] gods and what not

but at one point they are going to teach him this special technique
with nothing more then spider web from the jungle,
a kite from the jungle
and some wire
i thought it was pretty amazing
so i decided to share it with u who might be interested

yeah its amazing how they thought of something like this
but its techniques that have been develloped by native people over hundreds or maybe thousand of years
thats wats so cool if u watch the entire episode
he says he wants to learn this now or these techniques might be lost forever

they have one other real cool technique where the whole village joins in and they all get into the water
u really have to see that one too to believe it

Can anyone describe what they do for the spider web and kite line fishing? I can't watch videos right now, til the beginning of next month. I am on the ass end for my bandwidth monthly allowance.

So basically they use the banana leaves to make a kite, they stitch them together. Use the wire to control the kite and as fishing line, which is hanging from the kite. They use the spiderweb as a hook.

They troll fish with a canoe, the kite makes the lure of spider web bounce on top of the water.

The target is the needle fish. It's got a unique style mouth, almost like a sword fish type bill thing, very narrow -- and when it bites the spider web it's teeth get caught in the stickiness of the web and it cannot willfully let go.

They then pull the kite in, and voila! a fish for dinner.
