Is that really from an 86 year old?

He says joined the armed forces in 1943 and that the year before Pearl Harbor happened. That's incorrect. The year before would have been 1942, but Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. A minor mistake perhaps but not one I'd expect someone of his age to make, especially as he lived through it.
