Kate Bush's song "Cloudbusting" was about William Reich and his Orgone theories - but her video of the song has what looks a lot like a persistent contrail in it from about 1.43 - 1.47.

Well spotted! Maybe Kate Bush is a bit of a conspiracy theorist herself. Many of her songs have unusual themes.

I love her.

Were you watching this video by choice or by force?
That contrail was an 80's contrail, which was lighter & fluffier than they are nowadays. Are you trying to say that contrails are the same now as they were then?

Kate Bush was an awesome singer you barbarian reprobate (
), and AFAIK contrails have always been pretty much the same - since they are all ice-cloud.

Is ther any evidence that contrails are different now from any other time?

but I wasn't actually "saying" anything other than that there seems to be a persistent contrail in this 1985 video

I'm sure she was a good singer, but she should have used instruments a little better than a Casio keyboard like in this video to keep my interest.

Chemtrail debating is on hold for me at the moment, working on a compilation of "proof" that these should be investigated a lot closer. And for every piece of evidence or proof, there are 5 people who will say -fake, CGI !!

What do you mean was a good singer? She is still an incredible singer, musician and songwriter! Still better than most and more innovative than music artists of today!

Well in my defence I mean back when I was actually interested in music a lot more than I am now, and had all her albums!

Is your picture a screen shot taken from the video?

Please note the time in the video that your screen shot was taken.

There's no way in hell I'm going to sit through 6 and half minutes of that shill noise.

From your screen shot it doesn't look very persistent to me.

Comeback and try again when you have a video of a persistent contrail that shows exactly how long it persisted.

This is not good proof for either side of this argument. Just another junk thread.

You should have posted this in the music category if you wanted to discuss Kate Bush's music talents.

THREAD FAIL

I guess my eyes were blind by the horrible noise coming from my computer speakers. I didn't notice that you posted the time.

But 3 seconds? Really? You call a 3 second screen shot a "persistent" contrail? Really?

I just watched your 3 second clip a few times. Although it appears to be time lapse photography. You can easily see the contrail dissipating just in those brief 3 seconds. How on Earth do you call that "persistent" is beyaond me.

1/ I gave the time frame

2/ the persistence is not the 3 seconds of the time frame - it is the length of the contrail - it is clearly more than a few minutes old because it has spread a bit.

3/ the CLOUD that gets dissipated by the "cloud buster" is not a contrail....duh!

According to this wikipedia entry a cloudbuster creats clouds. It doesn't cause them to dissipate.

en.wikipedia.org...

A cloudbuster (or cloud buster) is a device designed by Austrian psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich that could - according to the pseudoscientific principles of orgone theory - manipulate orgone energy present in the atmosphere in order to produce rain.

The device was intended to be used in a way similar to a lightning rod: focusing it on a location in the sky and grounding it in some material that was presumed to absorb orgone - such as a body of water - would draw the omnipresent orgone energy out of the atmosphere, causing the formation of clouds and rain.[1][2] Reich conducted dozens of experiments with the cloudbuster[citation needed], calling the research "Cosmic Orgone Engineering."

And where did I say otherwise?

this thread simply notes the existence of a contrail in the video.

I have not commented at all on the effectiveness or otherwise of cloudbusters, or of Reich's theories, or anything else.

What relevance do your last 2 posts actually have to the topic??

Sounds like you're back peddling now. The title of your thread says "persistent contrail"

Actually, you did. In the above quote where you state "the cloud that gets dissipated by the cloudbuster".
That statement plainly shows you believe the cloud was dissipated by a cloudbuster. Therefore you are claiming that the cloudbuster was effective in dissipating the cloud.

What relevance is this thread to Geoengineering or chemtrails? My posts are relevant in disproving your claim that a cloudbuster dissipated the cloud in the video ......DUH

First off, good taste in music. Kate Bush is in my top 5.

Secondly, did that persistent contrail slowly spread across the sky covering it in a blanket of white? If not we are not talking about the same "persistent contrails" of today.

Third, there is more that just a little bit of irony in your musical selection considering the point you were trying to make.

The song is about the very close relationship between psychologist and philosopher Wilhelm Reich and his young son, Peter, told from the point of view of the mature Peter. It describes the boy's memories of his life with Reich on their family farm, called Orgonon where the two spent time "cloudbusting", a rain-making process which involved pointing at the sky a machine designed and built by Reich, called a cloudbuster. The lyric further describes Wilhelm Reich's abrupt arrest and imprisonment, the pain of loss the young Peter felt, and his helplessness at being unable to protect his father. The song was inspired by Peter Reich's 1973 memoir, "A Book of Dreams", which Bush read and found deeply moving.[1]

en.wikipedia.org...

In regards to Wilhelm Reich's cloudbuster:

Reich posited a conjugate, life-annulling energy in opposition to orgone, which he dubbed Deadly Orgone Radiation or DOR. He wrote that accumulations of DOR played a role in desertification, and he designed a "cloudbuster" with which he said he could manipulate streams of orgone energy in the atmosphere to induce rain by forcing clouds to form and disperse. It was a set of hollow metal pipes and cables inserted into water, which Reich argued created a stronger orgone energy field than was in the atmosphere, the water drawing the atmospheric orgone through the pipes.[19] Reich conducted dozens of experiments with the cloudbuster[citation needed], calling the research "Cosmic Orgone Engineering." In 1953, a drought threatened Maine's blueberry crop, and several farmers offered to pay Reich if he could make it rain. The weather bureau had reportedly forecast no rain for several days when Reich began the experiment at 10 a.m. on July 6, 1953. The Bangor Daily News reported on July 24: Dr. Reich and three assistants set up their "rain-making" device off the shore of Grand Lake, near the Bangor hydro-electric dam ... The device, a set of hollow tubes, suspended over a small cylinder, connected by a cable, conducted a "drawing" operation for about an hour and ten minutes ... According to a reliable source in Ellsworth the following climactic changes took place in that city on the night of July 6 and the early morning of July 7: "Rain began to fall shortly after ten o'clock Monday evening, first as a drizzle and then by midnight as a gentle, steady rain. Rain continued throughout the night, and a rainfall of 0.24 inches was recorded in Ellsworth the following morning." A puzzled witness to the "rain-making" process said: "The queerest looking clouds you ever saw began to form soon after they got the thing rolling." And later the same witness said the scientists were able to change the course of the wind by manipulation of the device.[48] The blueberry crop survived, the farmers declared themselves satisfied, and Reich received his fee.[19]

en.wikipedia.org...

Well, one example they showed was that Reich went to one part of the desert where no grass had grown in the memory of the oldest person living there for 50 years or more. And over a period of months — people mistakenly think that making rain means that you create lightning and thunder and clouds and downpours. But what he did was through work with the cloud buster, he was able to gradually raise the relative humidity of the area around Tucson. Grass began to grow in areas where grass had never grown, knee high grass. That was one thing that was on television. Another thing was that the water table rose. Homes had been built along stream beds that had been dry for who knows how long? But the water table rose. BUT WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH CLOUD BUSTING? THE IMPRESSION THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAS IS THAT WHAT WILHELM REICH WAS DOING WAS FOCUSING AN ENERGY BEAM AT CLOUDS TO DISPERSE THEM, NOT CREATE THEM. No, that's not what it is at all. You could withdraw energy from an area which would lead to the dissolution of clouds. Or you could draw more energy in, say from the east to the west, and a higher concentration of energy is an integral part of the creation of clouds. So, by shifting the energy field locally, you can assist nature in what it does naturally which is forming the dissolution or creation of clouds and rain. And prolong periods in which clouds are not able to form. Then you begin to get the process of desert development.

Ran out of space.

My point with all of that was that Reich's cloudbuster was straight-up weather modification.

And what happened to Reich? His books were burned and accumulators destroyed by the FDA. He died in prison.

huh??

the cloud that disappears in the video is just a cloud - and it's just a freakin' music video - not a documentary on Reich's cloudbusters!!

Bloody hell - some people take stuff way too seriously!!

That's because there's that contrail in the corner for a few seconds that has obviously been in the sky for a bit of time.....so yeah...I highlighted it with an arrow...WTF are you talking about??

Good post and well spotted , there must be tons of archive footage of the skies from all over the planet , that need checking out for chem trails. Regarding Kate , she is a British icon , but the US have Laurie Anderson who was just as innovative , then again Tori Amos nicked the whole kooky piano playing female from Kate no doubt. She lives in the UK now , married an englishman.

Good info.

Very interesting, very very interesting.

I found this YT movie on Wilhelm Reich

en.wikipedia.org...

Reich worked with Sigmund Freud in the 1920s and was a respected analyst for much of his life, focusing on character structure rather than on individual neurotic symptoms.[2] He tried to reconcile Marxism and psychoanalysis, arguing that neurosis is rooted in the physical, sexual, economic, and social conditions of the patient, and promoted adolescent sexuality, the availability of contraceptives, abortion, and divorce, and the importance for women of economic independence. His work influenced a generation of intellectuals, including Saul Bellow, William S. Burroughs, Paul Edwards, Norman Mailer, A.S. Neill, and Robert Anton Wilson, and shaped innovations such as Fritz Perls's Gestalt therapy, Alexander Lowen's bioenergetic analysis, and Arthur Janov's primal therapy.[3]

Later in life he became a controversial figure who was both adored and condemned. He began to violate some of the key taboos of psychoanalysis, e.g. developing body psychotherapy, thus using touch during sessions. After some years of microbiological research ("bions") he said he had discovered a primordial cosmic energy, which he called "orgone". He built orgone energy accumulators that his patients sat inside to harness the reputed health benefits, leading to newspaper stories about sex boxes that cured cancer.[4]

Awww come on....

You cant say her last two albums (Snow and Cut) havent been drivel compared to Kate at her best.

She's my favourite...but I am not deaf.

Back to the point, Cloudbusting is a classic. Love Donald Sutherland in this.

Interested in the fact that the contrail is featured. Had never noticed before.

Good spot.
