Immortality choice, is it heaven/hell? What would you do?

To answer your question though, I really don't see a problem with immortality as long as you can end it anytime you want.

But if the virus made you indestructable, by improving the immune system and healing potential exponentially, I believe that would possibly create a Hell on earth.

Is that what happens in the book?

supposedly. Though not to the point where they'd survive serious harm. Still foggy on it since the good guys are winning and I haven't finished the book yet!

No thanks..I didn't have to think hard about it at all. I think that living for an eternity would be heart breaking and way too much work emotionally. Sure there are advantages but they can't outweigh the pain.

I would rather work with what I have and try to make it great while it lasts.Would an immortal be able to cope with the accumulated memories through the centuries? I think it would be mentally too exhausting..peace,sugarcookie1

If that happened, maybe they would come up with some kind of law, like sterilizing everybody or something...maybe from time to time they'd trigger some event to reduce the population, or maybe as years went by, technology would reach a level where we'd be able to launch several ships with massive population to colonize other planets and spread the immortal human race like a virus throughout the universe.

Personally, I'd be very tempted, but wouldn't like to be immortal. Living some hundred thousand years would be enough for me, I guess. The problem with immortality, some say, is that you'd eventually do something stupid and trap yourself for all eternity.

(And obviously with this question I make a few assumptions e.g that reincarnation is real and that enlightenment is the end goal of humanity)
