Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman is hosting a drought summit as parts of England struggle with groundwater levels lower than in 1976.

Yes it's been a very dry cold winter here in the UK I can see this could become a big problem here in the very near future.

It was not that long ago my house got flooded how times have changed.

We still have April to look forward to the so called April showers as it's known over here but the weather is so screwed up who knows.

Thanks

The South is struggling for water? We have loads up in Yorkshire!

Now, seeing as we lose out cash wise compared to the South East, you can have our surplus at hugely extorted rates. Interested?

Dude I know I live in sheffield but I wouldn't say we have plenty of water but more than in the south but I will not weep for London
But if we don't get a good bit of rain it will be a BIG problem here too.

Veolia issues warning of potential drought for Hertfordshire

Just a little from that article.

Even with the wettest weather over the next few months we will not see conditions improve hugely for the spring, and that’s why we want to ask our customers to help us prepare now for a dry summer next year and avoid possible restrictions

Edit to add

Britain faces a hosepipe ban this summer, Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman has warned, as parts of England see groundwater levels lower than in the drought of 1976.

The resevoir i pass is pretty low at the moment, but we had really bad rain the night before last and more snow yesterday, i think its a little bit early to start talking about water shortages.
We still have all of march and april and half of february left.

How could UK be running out of water, I thought it rains up there constantly?

Thanks to Kielder Water we in the North East have an ample water supply.

The annoying thing is that there would be plenty of water, even for The South, if all the respective water companies fixed all their leaks.

Well it's officially declared in drought in the south of England.

The south east of England is now officially in a state of drought, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs admitted today.
