A human. On 4s as a child, 2 legs then when we grow, and then 2 legs and a cane (3 legs), when we get older?

First thing that came to mind, cool.

How does this relate to the Sphinx? I had never heard of this riddle before this thread.

Get up and go to your window. Ok?
Now open the curtains. Ok?
Now look out, across the street and find the hills in background?
See em? That joke is older than those hills.
