There are plenty of jerks driving every make and model, living in every walk of life. Karma will catch up eventually I guess.

I live off a highway exit. Every winter (az) The same two people work the corners . Its funny how they are never out there when it is hot or the rare occasion that it rains. They have been working that corner for 4 years.
There is a gas station there where commuters stop between Tuscon and Phx.

The store there where they stand in front refuses to serve them . They stay on the sidewalk and never get in trouble.

I have been very depressed at the state of people and how they act. I see so much hate, entitlement, and lack of empathy. Just last week people moved out and left the dog inside the apartment without water and food to die.
They had also abused it . It took me three weeks to get the pound to get a warrant and get it out. I fed it through the small window in the meantime.

This happens all the time where I live . People drive and cut you off because they think they are entitled and you must stop for them. I had an 80 year old looking couple cut me off, and flip me off the other day! I could not believe it. I was waiting to pull out of store, traffic was heavy. They puled around me, and cut off the person on the main road, and almost caused a VERY serious accident, while flipping me off, as if I was just waiting there for the fun of it.

These are little things but they are every day , in and out. It is hard to find genuine people who still care about others as much as themselves. People will kill you as much as look at you around here. Flame me all you want, but this is what happens when a generation is brought up without God, and the government pits everyone against each other, all the time teaching you from birth to consume, and buy and you are worth what you own and that its all about you.

I was with you until you brought god into it. More likely than not those jerk 80 year olds were brought up with god..... Didn't seem to do them any good. Morality and god seem to have nothing to do with eachother if you ask me, I have met many immoral jerks that claim to follow a god. I have met many great people that do not follow any god.

So a few minutes ago I was on my way back to work from my lunch break. I was at a stoplight in what is called the Luckie-Marietta district. The area is known for its numerous homeless shelters.

A man was in the lane to my right in a drop top BMW, nicely dressed, seemed to be doing pretty well. There was a homeless lady asking for a couple of dollars for some food. I gave her half of my tuna sandwich, and as she was leaving the man in the BMW called her over, and he held out a $20. When she reached for it, he laughed in her face, called her worthless, took the $20 back, and sped off.

The look of humiliation, and heartbreak in her eyes was extremely troubling to me. I hope this isn't a growing attitude towards those less fortunate, because no matter their situation, we are all human.

Just wanted to share this story.

What you are observing, is the ideology and attitude of Milton Friedman in particular, taken to its' ultimate logical extreme. We live in a society where compassion is perceived as being self-defeating; and that what was historically considered virtue, is actually considered detrimental to individual survival. You can be very sure that a large percentage of the conservative readership of this forum, will privately approve of that BMW driver's behaviour, even if they are astute enough to recognise that it would not be socially beneficial to them, within this particular context, to express said approval openly.

The single biggest problem with Capitalistic/conservative sociopathy, is that it tends to be mutually reinforcing. It is likely that the individual you saw, was at one point exposed to similar abuse himself. It has the effect of teaching the recipient that behaving in a similar manner towards others, is the only way that he can secure his survival.

Always remember the single most important element of compassion; that the decision to act compassionately should never be determined by how you are treated yourself, but by how you, entirely independently of such, are willing to treat others. I was forced to learn this lesson during three years playing World of Warcraft, where my perception of human nature underwent severe damage.

He may one day be asking that poor old woman for a handout.

None of the Capitalist talking heads would have advocated that said BMW driver behave any differently. Soros and his ilk called themselves Capitalists back when that word was popular. When it ceased to be, they started calling themselves Socialists instead; and people keep falling for it.

Psychopaths deceptively self-identify with whatever label they think is going to meet with the most public approval; such has absolutely nothing to do with their behaviour.

I don't think so... There are people out there like this but I don't know anyone personally that would ever do something like that.
