A World Away

This one came out about the same time as the song I posted at the bottom came out. Back in my tomcatting days. ( Or did it?) Finished it 3 days before my 2_rd birthday. ( Or did I ?) The proof is on the original paper it was handwritten on.


A World Away

You pride yourself on having class
standing fast on rules that hold no sway
you make it your life, you make it a point
to put yourself a world away

I know this world can make you hard
I'm not trying to change your ways
but trying to find where you draw the line
puts me world away

When I try to earn your trust
you don't give me the time of day
when I try to give you the reasons why
you put me a world away

I know all about sef-preservation
of the need to keep the wolves at bay
I know how to hold my own in a storm
how to keep it all a world away

but I also know of the human touch
how strong it is in it's own way
when I try to give you that side of life
you tell me it's a world away

When I try to earn your trust
you don't give me the time of day
when I try to give you the reasons why
you put them a world away

people like you think scars don't heal
when it comes to change, you hide 'em away
people like you think love isn't real
people like you........you're a world away

because change is the name of the game
and sooner or later you're gonna have to play
I just hope I'm there when the wall comes down
you're gonna need someone, someone around
when you put it all a world away

I hope by now I've earned your trust
I hope you can give me the time of day
I hope I've given you the reasons why
you should put your old life.....a world away.
