Israeli government sharply divided over response to Syria unrest

In an obvious display of disarray, Israeli officials are showing some "differences of opinions" concerning the crisis in Syria.

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman believes it is time Israel unequivocally condemns the massacres and calls on Assad to resign, while Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu prefers to remain ambiguous.

The country's leaders are clashing over what constitutes a proper Israeli response to the events in Syria - where around 6,000 civilians have been killed - in the revolt against President Bashar Assad.

I think this is a show put on to make it look like they are disagreeing.

I say they are giving the illusion of bewilderment while quietly knowing exactly what they are doing.

Very shifty indeed. Interesting tactic.

When did the state of israel ever care about civilians ouside of israel?

They cant make an official position..


.. because there 'actual' official position is that they are involved, they are assisting rebels and they are stoking the flames.

To come out and say Assad must go, would be nothing short of them being seen as a nation actively rampaging to depose a leader.
