If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it does make any noise? And what does this question really mean?

Technically yes as it will still generate sound waves. I believe it is a question that is supposed to stimulate thought, such as "what is the sound of one hand clapping". If you find out what the sound of one hand clapping is, let me know.

lol.. Funny you should ask that. I asked a buddhist on ATS recenty what the sound of one hand clapping was and he told me to "SLAP MYSELF IN FACE AND FIND OUT!"

As for the tree... I always figured if no one is around to hear it fall... If it's falling doesn't in some way impact on a sentient being or the world in some way... Does it really matter? Is the point of life then to leave our mark?

Thank you, I'm glad I could bring some entertainment. Right now I'd say that I am content. Happiness seems to be an elevated emotion rather than a state of being to me. When you're content, it's harder for that to be taken away. Most of the time I am cheerful ,though working retail does tend to test the limits of my compassion and understanding.

I'm a buddhist myself, I guess this site attracts us? In my opinion the point of life is to live and to not try to put a meaning to it. When you sit back for a moment, let your thoughts go and just realize that life isn't so complicated and all we have to do is live then it makes a little more sense and you might even smile.

Dark doesn't exist.
It is a word to describe the absence of light.
You cannot have a jar of dark. The same with cold.
It's a term used to describe the absence of heat,.
