Hacker claims porn site users compromised

LONDON—A hacker claims to have compromised the personal information of more than 350,000 users after breaking into a disused website operated by pornography provider Brazzers.

Kate Miller, director of communications for site owner Manwin Holding SARL, said Saturday it was "currently investigating the issue" but that no credit card information has been leaked.

Miller said it appeared that the hacker had gained access to an inactive forum to help enter other, linked websites. She said people who were potentially affected were being notified of the security breach by the company.

The hacker claiming responsibility for the breach told The Associated Press that he carried out the attack to draw attention to the site's vulnerability.

"I didn't do that for any money," he said in an email.

Interesting tid bit from an article posted at another source (I added some bold emphasis)...

Earlier in the week, the young hacker posted to the internet some emails, usernames and supposedly-safe encrypted passwords.

Last week the hack-collective Anonymous reported that it had been able to hack into several websites affiliated with the US Central Intelligence Agency and the state of Alabama.

The CIA website was offline for most of the 10th of February due to the hack.

The timing that this occurred and the details that surround these attacks are rather uncanny aren't they? Make your own assumptions of course.

It seems that hacking is quite a touchy subject as of late. It doesn't appear that money is the motive though. The modus operandi seems to be just to point out vulnerabilities. Not so sure I buy that these hackers are just trying to make site owners aware of their security vulnerabilities. There is more to it, just a hunch I have.
