I didnt know where to put this but.... well, here we are. I was searching around for bases and stuff in Nevada, i came across something. I cant tell what it is. A farm in a desert? irigation in the middle of nowhere? something for a military base? Please help me figure this thing out.

Its a farm. What you are looking at is circular irrigation A pole in the center feeds water to a suspended pipe that swings in a giant circle and waters the plants.

Its correct name is "Center Pivot"

Not all that weird. They can either drill deep for water, or may have a pipeline. I have traveled alot in the SW and youd be surprised where you find crops. If you have a plant that likes sun and wwarm temps, and you can get water, the land is cheaper than dirt and things grow well.

This is kinda off topic now, if only I knew before I posted. I dont know if you know, but how far do trucks or whatever have to take the crops? Do they grow it so they can sell it?

Hey my thread was moved to Below Top Secret.....

still sounds strange to me about the farms, all the way in the desert where it takes forever to ship it out? doesnt seem worth it

They're not growing produce, often they grow alfalfa...hay.

sell sand? lol. Start a cactus farm? I know quite a few people around where I live that like indoor cacti.... Oh and sand has quite a demand here too because of the snow....
