It amazes me how up and down the whole GOP ride is. Seems like Gingrich couldn't even get 10,000 signatures to appear on the Virginia State Republican primary ballot. So he had to fake signatures just to get on the ballot, it amazes me that there are any people left that actually vote for this guy.

"Virginia State officials have confirmed that a criminal investigation of the Gingrich for President Campaign is now underway in what investigators are describing as, massive “voter fraud.”"

"the Gingrich campaign failed to turn in enough signatures on petitions this past December, to qualify the candidate to appear on that state’s upcoming Republican primary ballot. In fact, by Gingrich’s own admission, his campaign turned in 11,100 signatures when only 10,000 were needed. The problem? 1500 of those signatures were quickly identified as fraudulent."

I wonder what will happen with this? will it effect what he does now or is this something they can sweep under the carpet until the person is chosen to face Obama?

The Republican race for the nomination is a circus. Having followed it, it seems basically inevitable that Obama will be elected.

I dont see one potentially presidential nominee in the bunch. If anything Michelle Bachmann should have got the nomination. At least she was privy to Middle Eastern issues. But, of course, despite her qualities, she turned out to be just another bigot.

Pretty typical of the right.

Are we surprised?

Really...are we shocked that this happened considering recent events withing the GOP?

Voter fraud is rampant throughout the GOP and it has been pretty much been admitted!

How could you ever have thought michelle bachmann deserved the nomination? The woman is insane. How does she deserve the presidential nomination over ron paul? She is anything but "privy to middle east issues" in my opinion.

I cant seem to find anything on it, but I distinctly remember hearing that she was an ambassador to the Middle East, or in some position central to foreign affairs in the middle east.

Anyways, I have heard her speak sensibly with regard to the Middle East. At least relative to Herman Caine.

I suppose that isn't much of an accomplishment.

This seems to be a reasonable description of what happened at least six weeks ago:

ROANOKE, VA --
The Virginia Attorney General's office is investigating the campaign of Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich, over claims of ballot signature fraud.

At the end of December, Gingrich told CNN that the reason he did not qualify for the Virginia primary, is because one of the people his campaign hired falsified a lot of signatures.

The attorney general's office tells WSLS that the State Board of Elections asked it to investigate the claim. A spokesman for the attorney general's office emphasized that the investigation is not looking into Gingrich himself.

This info came out before the 3rd of January (see video, it was uploaded on the 3rd).. Why hasn't more been said about it? Why isn't the investigation further along? Is there any word of this on MSM?
