I wondered about WWII and war press coverage like explosions going off.
What are the chances.
A staged explosion works just as good if you think it was in a war zone.
All the firings are given by the war department from stock film.
Perhaps some of the explosions as well.
Now days with handy cams we might see people in the thick of it.

I like how the news I hear and see say "Syria killing innocent civilians"

Hmm I see Innocent civilians with guns shooting at soldiers.

And before you say...they have to protect themselves.

Don't take up arms against your government and you won't have to use said arms to shoot those that shoot at you.

Make sense. Or how about I protest my government by grabbing a rifle and head down the the local courthouse.
Not gonna happen, as I would expect to get shot by local law enforcement.

Looks like authentic footage to me. Imagine if all the able bodied men in your neighborhood suddenly had to be thrown together and take up arms and go attack a checkpoint. Maybe a checkpoint you had to walk through everyday for a year and you knew the guards well... And your home town is being pressed by Syrian forces and shelled regularly.

The shooting looks real. The snap of rounds going out and coming in, sounds real. The body of the man shot being totally limp looks real. The peoples reactions to the battle seem genuine. Don't see the enemy? Why would you, they are taking small arms fire and are keeping down. They could be prone in the doorway or beneath a windowsill. If the rebels had an RPG they could have wiped that small shack out but they are hitting it with AK's.

Can it all be faked? Sure, but this looks like a real skirmish as far as I can see. But I do agree the media is playing a role in this... and while I would hope it is to tell the story of events unfolding over there. I can't help but wonder if there is a sinister agenda playing out here from our side.

Well, I have no doubt that violence of some sort is occurring in Syria. I don't think the footage is fake. However, as to who is or isn't behind everything, I admit, I have no idea. As I am a member of an Orthodox Church whose patriarch lives in Damascus, I tend to keep up with church related news from the area.

Here's some you may be interested in:

SANA: 'Terrorist group' kills priest in Syria

An "armed terrorist group" killed a priest in the protest hub of Hama in central Syria on Wednesday, state media said, as regime forces reportedly pounded the city for a second day.

"An armed terrorist group killed the priest Bassilius Nassar as he was helping a man who was wounded in the neighborhood of Al-Jarajmah," the official SANA news agency said.

Activists said the priest had been "martyred" during an offensive by the army.

"Father Bassilius Nassar was martyred during a military campaign conducted by the regime's forces in the city," the Local Coordination Committees, which organize protests on the ground, said in a statement received by AFP in Nicosia.

Looks pretty real to me. Compare to any footage from wars it's pretty much the same and as far as I know there hasn't been that much faking exposed.
