So it begins ATS!

ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement)

Europe is getting ready to protest ACTA.
With over a 100 demonstrations planned for coming saturday.

I hope politicians will wake up.
some are, like Slovenia's Ms Zorko.

she admitted she didn't pay enough attention when she signed the bill.

i sure hope these protests will help and we can save the internet as we know it.

petition against ACTA (SIGN IT PLEASE!)
over 1.75 million people already signed!
the goal is to reach at least 2 million.
then the signatures will be handed over to officials in Brussels.

ACTA is last weak news or what
?

or maybe people are refraining from posting because this is REAL?
(unlike a lot of things that get posted on this site)

I believe it has been posted before already. To be honest there's little point discussing this because it will happen, protests or no. I can't imagine anyone protesting over it here though, despite what some googlemap graphic says. I think there is or was an Occupy thing in A'dam and The Hague for a while but with less than 100 people it was not much news for long. Meanwhile it's -15 C outside.

ETA I realise this has nothing to do with occupy, I just used that as an example to show the state of apathy most people have. Go protest all you want, you will probably be alone. ACTA is about stopping piracy among other things, most people don't care about that. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

People say stuff all the time. This is my whole point. When push comes to shove at the end of a police baton, they will back down.

So we should just take all this?
Just because it's cold outside?

The occupy movement has nothing to do with this.
The occupy movement was a result of the populace being fed up but without any real objectives as to what it wished to accomplish.

We still outweigh 'the elites' in numbers and that is exactly what they fear.
When enough people let their voices be heard, we CAN stop this.

Sadly the message you're trying to convey is all too true.
Bur that doesn't mean we should let 'them' get away with this one as well.

ACTA has hardly received any coverage in the UK at all!!! They only mentioned in passing that we signed it, but no talk of protests etc.. about it.

Whilst we are on the topic of the British media being censored, they used the former head of RBS losing his knighthood to cover up the fact unemployment went up another 150,000.

UK = land of the increasingly manipulated.

The Powers That Be either made a huge mistake in giving us the internet (or maybe we're wrong about them afterall - One World Government ftw?)

BUT there's no way in hell they will EVER take away our internet!!

This should come as no surprise.
I mean, for example, when was the last time you heard something about Fukushima.

I'm willing to bet my left toe that it was MONTHS ago..

I think most people already realise they already have the power to prosecute this is just another piece of legislation that means f@ck all, i for one will continue doing the things i've been doing since dial up days and be f@cked with them. In a way it would be interesting to argue some of the leagalese definitions in the act
