Yes Fellow ATS'ers,,,, You Read It Correctly,,,,,,, What are your thoughts?

Gallup released their annual state-by-state presidential approval numbers yesterday, and the results should have 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue very worried. If President Obama carries only those states where he had a net positive approval rating in 2011 (e.g. Michigan where he is up 48 percent to 44 percent), Obama would lose the 2012 election to the Republican nominee 323 electoral votes to 215.

And There's More

Overall, Obama averaged 44% job approval in his third year in office, down from 47% in his second year. His approval rating declined from 2010 to 2011 in most states, with Wyoming, Connecticut, and Maine showing a marginal increase, and Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New Jersey, Arizona, West Virginia, Michigan, and Georgia showing declines of less than a full percentage point. The greatest declines were in Hawaii, South Dakota, Nebraska, and New Mexico

Why can't Americans at least increase the term of office to twelve years instead of constantly flipping from party to party? 4 years isn't enough to have an impact on the nation, much less soften the impact of a previous politicians work.
I mean, I know you're all up in arms about the constitution but that was a product of its times, when men lived way shorter lives and today with medical technology and education advanced so far you could reasonably allow a tripling of the term in office to almost no detriment except not having to go to the polls for a president that you only want to blame for all your problems anyways.

Kick the guy out after 4 years, damn, Bush got eight and his support was only assured since America doesn't like to change presidents in wartime.

After voting in Obama the American populace decided they didn't like him as much as they thought so they try to put a Republican in a seat of power, despite Republicans being one of the main reasons the national debt increases so quickly.

This story spins, but it does not float, because there is a drain America circles down, unable to decide how to pull itself away from an ever-increasing spiral of debt. Democrats reduce debts but only because Republicans call them tax-and-spend liberals. Republicans increase debt because they don't want to be seen as Soft on Crime.

These numbers might mean something if the current GOP list of candidates weren't absolutely terrible.

Yes
According to the polls, the only person doing worse than Obama in favorable ratings is -every single current opposing candidate-

So ya...

But carry on with your delusions from a skewed conservative "news" website.

I wonder if cons ever get angry at their neocon sources for being totally misleading every single day of the week..

And about that poll:
Might want to not look here

They don't like the handling of the economy (who does), but they see President Obama has a far better grasp on the issues than the eye of newt or Romney Howell the 3rd

But don't let me get in the way of your celebration of..erm...something.

Don't put too much thought into this story. Its misleading and tailored by a right wing "news" agency to spin a single aspect into some overall theme.

The big factor in this election is of course economy..the key though is who they trust to try and sort it out. Obama is quite high in this regard..the opposition is pathetically low and becoming lower by the day...and thats from their own doing, much less when actual opposition comes at Romney.

Will Obama win? of course. The polls show already its all but a shoe in, however, these types of spin articles are useful..it gets people off the couch and prepared to vote out of nerves. Better to think that every vote counts verses it is a wash and no need to toss your number in the 60 million numerical advantage.

When are people going to realize that these numbers mean nothing?

Voting means nothing as well.

It does not matter what people say anymore and hasn't for quite a while. The craziest thing the US political system has done is convince it's people they are still voting for a new president.

The person who will become president will be whoever the richest people decide seeing they own all of the media outlets.

Stop believing the media's crazy story and start taking your government back.

I sorta feel sorry for this thread really. It is very unlikely for any current GOP candidate to have a chance taking Barack Obama head on. They're just that pathetic.

This is useless. Approval ratings have been shown to have little to no correlation with re-election. Aside from Clinton, every president has had diminishing approval ratings heading into a re-election year (Edit: I should add since Eisenhower, which was the first presidency to have extensive/scientifically valid polling data available).

You know...you see this as a bad thing.

I see this as Obama having a 215 Electoral vote head start.

Now he can focus heavily on 3-4 states to get to 270. In reality, he will focuse on about 10-15 states to pick up the 3-4 he needs.

I predict he will campaign the hardest in PA, OH, VA, and FL.

Florida is his. Gov Scott is so unpopular that the Rep primary canidates avoided him like the plague. He has pretty much ruined the party for a few years.

As for approval ratings the people who sit at the very bottom of the bucket right now are the Republicans in Congress. Those ratings make Obama look like he is king of the world. He will win again.

Well said Predator.... The rich elitist, those who attend the Bilderberg meetings each year, the people who control everything have been buying the Presidential election for a long time... of course that purchase includes a nice new President all gift wrapped and ready to dance on the end of his strings like Pinocchio...

Our American system of election is the best money can buy... just like our politicans who on the whole are the best money can buy.

Sadly not theory... but highly factual...

Mitch Daniels may have just handed Indiana to Obama all by himself. Despite the rhetoric on television, the vast majority did not want him to push the "right to work bill" through...and at least wanted a longer discussion on the topic...but he did it anyway...and this after stating himself that he would not change Indiana labor laws, as he stated it would cause a "civil war" within the state.

There's a huge difference in a President's approval rating and who people are going to vote for. If you believe that Democrats are going to vote for any of the bumbling Repubs, you are seriously deceived.
Unless the Rubz come up with a decent non-extremist candidate, it's 4 more years of Obama, much to the chagrin of many.

I cannot see Romney, CERTAINLY not Gingrich, beating Obama..
Only thing they have on their side is speaking time during the Debate where they can bash him.

Ron Paul truly has no dirt on his side and can spend the debate time talking about the issues.

So sad to see the state of America today from up North
