I heard from a friend once that a famous author said he got a lot of ideas from watching BBC ceefax late at night. He claimed serious, headline making
stories would pop up at four am and be gone at six, and it was from these he got his ideas.
I saw a headline at 5am last night on the BBC: 'Turkey threatens US over Northern Iraq'.
The Turkish government had told the US to immediately call off its offensive in Tal Afar and that if the offensive continued Turkey would withdraw
all support for the war, and that it was basically really pissed off at the high casualties of Turkmens, an ethnic relation to Turks.
Today the BBC has only an opinion piece on the relation between Turkey and the US with a brief mention of the Turkmens, and the only other reports I
can find are from the Middle East, China, and Russia.
The tensions between Northern Iraq and Turkey and the efforts to get Turkey onside before the war were big news.
The tensions now are even bigger, but hey, its not news.
