I don't care much for Gawker nor their writers after the Rand Paul posting,

but they caught this one nicely.

Freedom Of Speech??? I find anything such as this to be as offensive as Flag Burning.

Flag Burning is not Freedom Of Speech.

But that's just my opinion. I don't care for Obama but there are better ways to honor the man...

(I use the term 'man' loosely)

Them boys look awfully pale to be from AZ. I have spent quite a lot of time in the greater phoenix area and it's so flippin hot there that even sidewalks have a tan (winter included). I am guessing they don't get out from in front of WoW enough to know how idiotic an idea this was.

That is just an observation about the photo, aside from that this was a very stupid thing to have both done and documented. Making a statement is one thing, plastering it all over Gawker is entirely another.

It hurts to look at that picture. Essences of hate, cheap beer, and cholesterol emanate off the very pixels of the image.

Aside from the poor taste, I see nothing explicit in a threat towards our president. Think about how they make effigies of rival coaches in High School football games. It's dark, twisted, and quasi-black magic but it's become a commonly accepted way to display a team's desire to win.

Stupid? Yes. Illegal? No.

I'm with cuervo. This is free speech. Unless it's an actual threat, which I don't see. It's expression. Stupid and sad, but legal, IMO.

So is burning the flag. (Just because you disagree with it doesn't make it illegal)

And people in Phoenix are white because it's too damn hot to go outside. I lived there for 15 years.

Funny how these people are being investigated, but the Zionist Jew that called for Mossad to assassinate Obama only has to apologize?

Flag burning IS freedom of speech.

It's important to let people express themselves as long as they are not harming others. In this case in particular I think there is an intended message and also an underlying warning. If the message was censored or not shared in the first place you may not have received that warning.

Or perhaps you still haven't..

I agree. In this photo exists evidence of nearly every social ill of Western Civilization. The mind recoils.

Can we arrest them? Not in AZ, obviously. The better question to ask is can they be educated?

This could be our first opportunity to see how NDAA actually works.

It won't surprise me if any of the people involved with this photo, including the officer that snapped the shot, came to quiet 'accidental', and sudden demise.

On the one hand, I don't see anything wrong with it, other than stupidity.

On the other hand, Obama just had an argument with the AZ Governor, and there is a lot of hatred over the border issues, and if someone took this photo and then posted it publicly to send a message, well then.... the message was received and they are getting a response, no room to complain.

Imagine, if someone that didn't like me, took a picture of me and shot it up, and then posted it on Facebook for me to see, I might take that as a threat, wouldn't you?

Nobody is hurt...nobody made a real threat. There is absolutely nothing wrong here.

If people would have made this big a deal out of everyone who did crap like this about Bush....

While I may not agree with the message being sent through this photograph, I will fight to the end to protect their right to express themselves.

My question is WHY does flag burning anger you so much? So what, its flag. Merely a collection of threads that form a pattern. The only meaning it has is meaning YOU give it. They aren't burning children. They are burning cloth. That is the form their expression has taken. Your form of expression could just as easily be waving the flag instead. If we all spent more time and effort on changing the things in our own lives that aren't what we like and less time worrying about what other people are doing with theirs we would be much happier and healthier.

It is just a flag.

This clearly constitutes threatening behaviour, and, consequently, should be treated as what it is: a crime.

If you saw a group of anonymous knuckle-draggers with guns, posing with a t-shirt of your bullet-riddled and bloodied image, then you would, quite correctly, look at it as an active threat.


Also, this myth about ''free speech'' in the US is a complete joke !

I urge any American - or non-American, for that matter - to research all the ''exemptions'' to the First Amendment of the US Constitution, such as SCOTUS approved laws regarding pornography, obscenity, fighting words, etc.

You'll quickly realise that the notion of ''free speech'' in the USA is roughly akin to that which is granted to citizens of the People's Republic of China.

to themselves. It makes for a good 1st Amendment argument.

Don't get me wrong; I LOVE our freedoms. All of them.
